NOTwork rail strikes again Hitachi Test Train wrecks power lines in Ealing/Hanwell

Honestly, who in their RIGHT MINDS runs a test train over some of the busiest lines in England!Yup, its NOTwork Rail:The Daily Express today: "NETWORK Rail confirmed all services in and out of London Paddington have been cancelled until at least midday today, due to faulty overhead wires caused by the testing of a new Hitachi high-speed train on Tuesday evening."Overcrowded trains, incompetent timetabling, no step free access at Ealing Broadway, endless pavement destruction and illegal parking by contractors at Ealing Broadway working on Crossrail, it's "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose"

Uxbridge Road Safety Consultation

LBE are carrying out a consultation on walking along the Uxbridge Road. 207 and 607 will not be stopping at Westfield from April2019

Not good for the elderly, those with young children, pushchairs and lots of shopping. Westbound buses will use the original stop on the south side of the Uxbridge Road, which was very crowded pre. What is social prescribing?

"... the Health Committee to make social prescribing an accessible form of health care ..." - Dr Onkar Sahota, Gazette, 19 October.  Is this the social weasel word as in social justice? When I was a pharmacist I dispensed no social prescriptions.

LIVEABLE NEIGHBOURHOODS

There is a lot of money flying around West Ealing for improvements to cycling and walking. £8 million? Now I was told that none of this money would alter car parking. There is a fair amount of chaos and poor provision of parking for shoppers. The reason many of us live in busy west London is for the services it provides. To ensure these services stay in business and for elderly and challenged people to get there and use them there must be a rationalisation of this provision eg 3o mins is too short and many over 65 don't use a mobile phone to extend this short period. One of the authors Joshua gave me the assurance that they would do nothing to parking. Now I find he has taken away two potential parking places and replaced them with benches and flowers. Do something useful with this money please. Don't remove parking places.

Beware the Co-op ATM

I have used this near the Town Hall twice. The first tome it swallowed my card for no reason. Today it gave me £60 and a receipt for £80 withdrawn. I had to go to my bank, Santander, to claim my money which I await. Co-op say it is merely their wall not their machine. Not very co-operative IMO.

Mobikes Gone?!

I am getting a warning message on my iphone that Mobikes are now only valid to used in a small area of Chiswick. If you try to take one in Ealing and park there you will be fined £20. This is pretty rubbish considering I still have credit with them that I will be unable to use. There are plenty of bike still around in Ealing. Has anyone else ridden one in the last few days and have you had a fine?

Ealing pavements falling apart, disintegration helped by council disability contractor Mullin & Sons

Pavements around Eaing are falling apart and people with disabilities and  wheelchairs are finding it harder to get around. Sadly,  disability specialist and council contractor Mullin and Sons of South Ealing likes to park heavy trucks  up on the pavement on the paving slabs which danages and blocks the pavement around its builders yard in South Ealing. Rather than driving INTO the builders yard over the dropped kerb and ramp to unload it chooses to a) damage the pavement around the entrance to its yard by parking up on the pavement, b) block the pavement by narrowing it for pushchairs and wheelchairs, and c) impede traffic flow across this busy junction, d) endanger pedestrians by passing building refuse over the pavement and over the wall into the yard. The cumulative pavement damage over years of doing this is apparent and perhaps it is time for Mullin and Sons to do a "good work" and repair and replace it at its own cost.Monday 1st October around lunch time though this is a pretty regular occurance

Was That Wise Hilary?

I've just been looking at some coverage of today's Labour party conference and a bit of a stir has been caused by a delegate from the Ealing Central and Acton constituency Hilary Wise. She made a speech to congress in which she said that the accusations of anti-semitism in the Labour party were overblown and the number of actual instances were miniscule. She blamed the growing the perception that Labour was anti-semitic on neo-Liberals withing the party and the mainstream media. She got a very positive reception from the hall although the chair apparently warned her for some of the language she used. I do wonder if Jeremy Corbyn was in the hall if his heart sank when she got up to speak. He has been spending the last few weeks trying to put this issue to bed and was presumably hoping that the conference would talk about things like renationalisation and higher taxes for the rich. Anything but Jews or Brexit basically. The other thing that really should have given Hilary pause for thought is that people are going to wonder about the motivations of anyone who solely focuses on the activities of Israel. By the standards of the middle east it has killed relatively few of its minorities.  While it is certainly true the Israelis tend to overreact to provocation, provoked they certainly are. The rights that a Palestinian has in Israel are significantly more extensive than they would have in Lebanon. This is an area of the world where there are a lot of bad actors and a lot of governments who don't behave the way they should including Israel. The question really is why do so many people in the Labour party think that it is exclusively the one run by Jews that is a problem?

HEALING IN CHISWICK ON MONDAY

A reminder that the monthly healing centre at the London Buddhist Vihara, The Avenue, Chiswick, will be open on Monday, 8th October between 11am and 1pm.  Healing helps any condition, from stress right through to physical illness and no matter what is said on the television programme, it is not just a placebo!!!  There is no charge made for the healing (all the healers are working on a voluntary basis), although a donation would be welcome and will be given to the Vihara..There is no need to make an appointment or book but if you want any further information before coming please give me a ring on 0788 189 6449.

Ealing Half Marathon

Perhaps plenty of monies raised for good causes, but what about the road closures??????????????????Drivers were literally going round in circles. All signs said were road closed & road closed ahead.Where are direction signs???Stewards were useless, shrugs of shoulders.Delivery vans - Occado was stuck & lots of members of public.Should be postponed next years event until proper traffic management put in place

Post intercepted

Last year someone ordered me a duplicate driving licence without my knowledge. They had my name, address and date of birth. The license was intercepted on route to my house in W13 and then was used at a branch of my bank where £1,000 was was handed over and taken from my account. Acting as me, they said they had lost their debit card, but produced the driving license as ID to get the bank teller to hand over the money. I got the money back, but knew that the crime was either down to someone in the DVLA or the Royal Mail. At the time,  I reported it to all, the RM, the DVLA and ActionFraud. I heard nothing back and thought well that was is the end of it. Alas, 2 days ago someone tried to open a bank account at my bank using my name and address with the idea of intercepting the debit card when it came. I now knew it was someone connected to the RM. My post had and has not been redirected so I suppose it might be someone more locally, my postman, the local sorting office or further up the chain, I don't know. What I'd like to know though is anyone locally such problems with post being intercepted? As I say, I live in a house so only my family have access to our post. I'd like to hear from anuone who have a similar problem. Perhaps we share the same postman? I live near Parkers the bakers on Northfields Avenue.
