Top Local Alfresco Dining Spots in Ealing?

It looks as though we might finally be in Spring and the forecast is good for the weekend. As I've got some visitors but am not relishing digging out the barbeque from the shed. Has anybody got any recommendations locally for good places to eat outside, preferably somewhere not too upmarket probably a nice pub garden?

Foodie pubs with outside dining areas include The Grange, The Grove, Duke of Kent,The Grosvenor, Haven Arms.  I am sure there are more.The Drayton Court Hotel boasts the biggest pub garden in London but to be avoided at the moment as closed for refurbishment.My pick would be The Grove with a table in the back garden.

We liked the new Charlotte's W5 and they seem to have a fair few spots for dining outside.

The New Inn and The Red Lion, both on St Mary's Rd, have great garden's and do brilliant Sunday roasts (the former being a carvery).

The Rose & Crown (behind St Mary's church) has the most traditional garden. More grass / less concrete and a sun trap. Chips are amazing!

I can see Charlottes W5 being hugely popular on warm afternoon and evenings.The EPT could use their garden a bit more and I understand this is plannedI see mention of the Rose & Crown and I must try this again myself. I rarely use it and never for food after a bad experience about 8 years ago!!Here's to a well overdue long hot summer

Yes, I think Charlottes will do well too. It isn't cheap but the menu is fresh and innovative.

Okay. Al Fresco broadly translates to "open air" and I would hardly describe Charlottes in Dickens Yard as being somewhere where I would to sit outdoor in the traffic fumes. There is a lack of open air dining in Ealing and I do not think that any pubs qualify as I am a non-smoker and the al fresco bit of these pubs qualifies more as a smoking area. I am not keen to be gassed by secondary smokingor to have my children gassed hy secondary smoking, or indeed to be subject to the profane language in pubs. The idea of a nice al fresco dining experience in Ealing is excellent, however, short of a park cafe there doesn't seem to be anywhere where the inside air contitioning isnt preferable to either the traffic fumes or the cigarette smoke outside.

I intend to. Life is good in Ealing (so long as you avoid Fullers pubs, the Council officea, and ANYWHERE associated with Ealing in Bloom, the Ascott Allotments, Grasser Lee and Phil Smith!).

I know a few excellent al fresco spots in West London however I am keeping them to myself as they ar GOOD and the last thing I want is Huq, Taylor, Scumbag, and Lee turning up there and being seen there. There are two types of businesses the ones that make money, and the ones that do PR. Way TOO MANY of those mentioned in the above list are marketing machines selling excellent PR but very little else.

We live in a very large city. Fumes are part of life. Maybe the countryside offers an alternative but one needs to get very far from London to enjoy anything approximating fresh air.

Just stop people smoking in pub gardens. Even better stop smoking, full stop and most of us will be happy.I share Gordon's hatred towards it.
