Most expensive *Normal* coffee in Ealing?

A visit to the Brewer Street Coffee Northfields Road (part of Fullers Pubs) left me disappointed today. £2.50 for a tiny cup of coffee with milk.... What do you expect with Fullers?Their beer is over rated and over priced too imo.

£2.50 is about par for the course nowadays in West London.However this coffee shop is a great quality addition to the area.

Nick, have a look at the size of the cup compared to the teaspoon next to it. Yes I pay £2.50 in the Paperback in South Ealing too, however, I get at least twice, if not two-and-a-half times the volume. I go to Paninis it is £1.80 for a white coffee made with proper coffee. £1.80 is the GOING RATE, £2.50 is if you can have more money then sense!I fail to see how somewhere that is charging way more than anywhere else can be a good addition to the area. Do you work for Fullers marketing?(The WiFi is rubbish there by the way).

Another vote here in favour of Fields and their coffee - they do one of the better flat whites in Ealing. Isn't it great that when we don't like a place we are absolutely free to spend our money elsewhere?

And so the Fullers marketing machine kicks into action.... Thankfully people like Bob and Keith and me are not taken in by the emperor's new clothes and spend our pennies wisely thereby getting better value.(and Internet that works.....)

I don't work for Fullers. And I resent your rather childish implication that I or anyone else have been "taken in" by something as straightforward as a cafe, just because our tastes don't align to yours.

Not tastes, VALUE!. Go to the Paperback and you get two-and-a-half times the volume for the same price, go to Panani and its double the volume for £1.80. Lets say you have a shop offering a half pint of milk for £2.50 and one offering a pint of milk for £2.50 - which one would you buy the milk from? Go to  Wetherspoons.... It is to do with prudent fiscal practice.

It is to do with prudent fiscal practice. My Mum taught to buy the best VALUE, not what EVERYONE else is buying, and certainly not that which is advertised or marketed or indeed popular. Choose the product on its merit or value. What do you think would happen to businesses if they didn't buy the BEST VALUE product and instead bought the most FASHIONABLY EXPENSIVE!

I think if value is prime concern you would never have a coffee or beer in a commercial outlet as the mark-up over the cost of the raw materials must be 3 or 4 times.  What you are paying for of course are the overheads such as staff wages, rent, rates etc etc

Philip, that is very very insightful of you. I hadn't thought of it that way. Then there is the whole way that prices are themselves set. A more ethical framework set on judeo/christian or moslem ethical principles sets an upper limit on how much profit can be made on a transation based on the costs. More "moderm" approaches have developed a whole art of determining prices and business studies students often have to a do half-unit course (eighth of a year) on this topic which unsuprisingly does not reference such spiritual traditions and instead concentrates on justifying maximum price rather than business sustainability or fairness.
