Piers Morgan and care minister this moring

He held up a copy of the Daily Mail saying 4000 dead in care homes and asked was it true and she laughed. Shocking!!!

Not a defence, but maybe she was laughing at him using a Daily Mail headline as a factual reference?

This shows that the government death toll numbers and action is now exposed as totally inadequate. The lack of testing is also shown. Over a month ago Doctors were refused tests. Any exit strategy has to be based on widescale testing. Other countries have testing and despite the promises yesterday there were only 14,000 tests. So perhaps when you include care and nursing homes plus people who died at home the true figure on deaths is 25% higher. I can see why Piers is getting angry though he is a bit of a slimebag ( phone hacking etc..)

The Daily Mail is the gold standard for some people. I remember James Obrien on LBC took their Brexit quotes and disproved each one.

I like Piers Morgan, he does have some good attributes, but he does, and very annoyingly, talk over and constantly interrupt his Interviewees, who often can't get a word/answer in edgewise.I think his fame is going/has gone to his head because I don't immediately recall him being like that in the past?I've also been very surprised at his severe criticisms of his erstwhile buddy Trump, there goes his future White House invitations!

There has been a crisis in care homes for several weeks.  Even worse is what has happened in care homes in countries like Spain and Portugal.Medics have been refusing to enter care homes for weeks. I know, we have a close relative in one who is unwell, she cannot be treated and quite frankly the over 80s are simply being written off.But that is very much the attitude that has permeated over the last few years, plenty of people have raise the agist attitudes in this locality alone but it has widely  fallen on deaf ears.It's only when it happens to one of your own family members that ones eyes are opened up.So 400 or 4000 or 40,000,  it does not matter, taking the problem seriously and tackling and sorting it is what matters.

There has been a problem in care homes for years.  The ruthless drive for efficiency from the Tory politicians with the requirement for just a little more profit ever year - just a little more - just a little more has taken its toll.  In this case it is the old and infirm who are the victims.

We heard from a care home worker in Lisbon who was saying that they have totally reorganised the way they work in order to be safer. they have 3 teams that rotate every week. so one team fully protected looks after the people. the next team just cleans continuously the building. and the third does the food etc. They had a couple of outbreaks in Portugal very early on but most care homes acted very quickly to prevent problems and from what we hear are mainly ok. But that is because the country took action with their lockdown. At easter all airports and motorways were closed. In fact now they are starting to ease up on shops.

Most care homes acted quickly. That says it all. I expect but cannot say for sure they probably had PPE. It would be good to find out.

Sorry, do you mean "mooring" or "morning"?  If the first, I don't think casual boating expeditions are appropriate given the "lockdown".  Although the boating party you note could make for interesting chat.  Hopefully, one or both would be struck by the boom when going about - knock some sense into them.

Oh and by the way, surely describing any of the cabinet as the "Care Minister" is a contradiction in terms - given the lamentable record of the government.
