Tony Clements, LBE's new Chief Executive.

Mr Clements got a £74,000 pay off when he left his previous role with Ealing Council. Nice gravy train so no wonder he’s back on board.

Well, nobody knows but he wasn’t made redundant as the post still exists. Perhaps more to do with relationships with other senior figures at the council. NDA confidentially invoked, although apparently not the being barred from re-employment at the council for five years.But his £74k is small beer compared to the £530,000 pocketed by another unnamed executive at LBE in 2019.

His list of connections is very telling. Very cosy with developers and several incumbents of the publicly funded Gravy Trainers.Looking at the press release, I wonder if Ealing will be sharing "it's ambitions for the place" with the electorate?Are they not supposed to be public servants providing basic services for the district? It appears that that's the last thing they want to do.So one to ask door knocking candidates.Like reviving LTNs in a new guise by using divide and rule and "listening' to outside organisations but strangely completely unwilling to expand on this and other issues.As for any sort of opposition, well the government has stuffed that up and must make any conservative wonder what that can possible say or do.But do nothing has been the norm for the past 8 years.Taking on cronyism and misleading and corruption would be a good start. But it looks as though its going to start with their own Parliamentary party.No better than the incumbent shower.What an absolute state this country, the 'mother and cradle' of democracy has descended to.

Regarding running Ealing Council effectively and efficiently, the only way out seemingly (and is regularly said) is true, bona fide Independent Ward Councillors.I have already exposed elsewhere one Independent running for a Ward seat who is a fully paid up Member of The Labour Party AND Momentum - hardly "Independent"!  😂Moral of the story folks - Check out the Independent "credentials" or "provenance" thoroughly before you are tempted to vote for them, as it would seem some may be wolves in sheep's clothing attempting to gain power through the back door.Politics is a dirty business innit........

Seems our incoming chief executive is also a Labour Party member. He stood as a candidate for them in the 2015 General Election in Beaconsfield. He didn’t get elected there, but local government seems much more rewarding

Is it possible to gain employment with Ealing Council if you are not a labour supporter?  As I recall, Clements first encountered Ealing in the person of Bell when they met at some kind of symposium.  The appointment process is secret anyway so who knows how any of them pitches for the job.

Sadly it is not just Ealing but most local authorities who make up a gravy train circuit of politically connected executives.I think you will find this latest fellow is a member and connected with several activist associations funded via the GLA and TfL.But then again probably the case for any other applicants.

Bell did eventually hand  back his social housing house. I’m sure only when it became too embarrassing. Thick skinned or what

I can’t find it written down but I’m pretty sure I read it. I sure there was a reason, possibly to do with his job. Definitely not for any decency on his part. I’ll keep looking.

The word is that a number of very senior council officers resigned following Mr Clements’ return to Ealing. It seems those who couldn’t work with him last time round are being ‘encouraged’ to seek pastures new.Doubtless the replacements will be suitably compliant when it comes to ensuring the vision for the great transformation of Ealing into Gotham City goes ahead without hindrance!

Utterly, contemptible and disgusting that these walking pariahs are feted by local authorities in such a way.The Bullying culture at Ealing is also being maintained and genuine people of ability are to be quashed.Yet not a single elected councillor dares ask or question just what is going on.Or goes public.

Maggie had getting rid of Councils on her Agenda, a crying shame that she didn't get to complete.Once matters had settled a bit I was going to email Boris to pick up the idea again and  run with it, but he's out of the frame too now......For the time being.

But as Boris has found to his demise, the culture within is more powerful than he and will always protect itself.The same cliques will still be hamming up things whatever is in place.
