Warning - motorcycle thieves S & W Ealing

3 lads seen today brazenly casing every motorcycle and scooter parked in front gardens in Seward Road, W7 2JR. The same 3 have been seen in Northfield Avenue, so are very likely local to this area.The 3 are late teens/early 20's. Two were two-up on a black 125cc learner bike - probably a Honda Varadero. The other was riding a scooter, possibly silver, also on L-plates. All were wearing balaclavas under helmets.The scooter rider is very likely the bloke I saw repeatedly last week in Elers Road, riding back and forth at high speed on a silver scooter with L plates. He was afro-Carribean, and he was carrying a white male passenger with no helmet.Please keep an eye out and alert your neighbours.

Substantial Reward for Missing Cat

Dear All,Our cat Boris has gone missing from Eccleston Road W13. He's often in the Kensington and Chelsea Cemetery which backs onto Eccleston Road. Hes a blue-grey cat, two years old. Lack of neighbour notification - Planning

Not long ago, the Council's Planning Department announced that they were no longer sending out the usual neighbour notification letters giving 21 days in which to comment. A system that we have become used to. The department assured people that Public Notices on lampposts were quite sufficient to keep people informed of developments in their area and to allow them to participate in the decision-making process.I live in Acton and this new system is simply not working! The property next door applied to build a second house in their back garden. The original Notice was apparently seen by a neighbour but was gone by the next day. I reported this to the Planning Department. A second Notice was put up in only one of the two roads affected (as it is a corner plot). That disappeared within 24 hours. I again reported this to the Council and a third Notice was put up which again was gone by morning.I doubt whether many neighbours are aware of what is going on and it seems ridiculous that the Council stopped sending out letters to neighbours to save postage, but now instead they are having to send staff out 3 times to the same property and there are still no Notices in either of the 2 roads.On reading the news item on this website that Planning Officers are now being allowed to grant planning permission for up to 50 flats without any involvement of the Planning Committee Councillors, this would seem to be the end of planning control in Ealing!

Patriotism and the Poles

I am saddened beyond measure to discover that anti-Polish literature has been distributed in Huntingdon and that the Polish Centre in Hammersmith has had graffiti daubed at its entrance.  This, no doubt, follows on last Thursday's referendum vote to leave the EU and I am sure that those who have done this would describe themselves as UK patriots.It might be a good idea if they were to acquaint themselves more closely with the history of this country during WWII. At a time when we were under threat from Nazi air-power, brave Polish pilots flew under the command of our own RAF and helped to win the Battle of Britain. Many of these pilots were decorated for their valour; many lost their lives defending our country.  Churchill himself admitted that had it not been for their skill and courage, we might well have lost this crucial conflict.After the war, many of these men settled here, became decent and valued citizens and raised families.  Some who returned home to Poland were persecuted and imprisoned by the Russians.The vilification of anyone for their nationality is abhorrent, but especially the descendants of those to whom we owe such a debt of gratitude.

"Missing" Planning Applications - Public Register.

For almost 30 years to my knowledge, Planning Applications have been available to view and comment on.  Originally, before computers were widely used, the Public Register consisted of a buff-coloured foolscap cardboard folder at the Council's offices where the public could have immediate access to it. The Public Register contained the Application, Drawings & Plans, Agent's cover letter, Tree Report, etc.A few years ago, Planning Reception at Perceval House started referring callers to the Council's Website where these documents were available to view and print off.  One Council (Slough Borough Council) applied software to prevent easy printing though!In Ealing, up until the Planning Administrator, Mrs Chris Hall left the Council in the latter part of last year followed by her deputy Miss Michele Power, the Applications and supporting papers had always been available on the Council's Planning Website.But in recent months, all of a sudden most Application Forms seem to be completely missing from the Web.I have today written a 4-page letter to Mr Paul Najsarek, the new Chief Executive of Ealing Council asking that the Council publishes the Applications as before and importantly, as it is required to do by law.Please see at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8lc1be6vjjzxkem/PaulNajsarek_26thMay2016.pdf?dl=0with one of the two attachments at:https://www.dropbox.com/s/vihb2akttgxtkg6/ApplicationForms_FiveCouncils.pdf?dl=0

ENERGY BOOST on Monday

Energy boost?Energy Therapists will be at the London Buddhist Vihara, The Avenue, W4 1UD on Monday, 13th June, between 11am and 1pm (last session 12.45).  The session takes about 15-20 minutes and I am sure that you will feel really good at the end of that time, with lots of vital energy to enable you to enjoy the rest of your week!  A number of therapists come in each month and give their services free.  The Vihara kindly allow us to use the hall at no charge so a donation is most welcome as this enables us to give all donations to the Vihara.These sessions are not related to any religion, everyone is welcome.

Plastic recycling

Does anyone know where we can recycle soft plastic packaging (other than carrier bags) which cannot legitimately be placed in our recycling bins? The new rules seem to be stricter than they were in relation to the permitted categories.

There have been many odd views put forward during the campaign on the vote for and against the EU in the vote today. The one from Mr Wale takes the biscuit as totally illogical,and if you feel like him then you don't bother to vote. If you want to cause unemployment and crash the pound and financial markets you take his odd advice.If you want a safe UK,stong trading markets and a brighter future you vote REMAIN

Acton tip crusher

Last week, I was told that the crusher was still being repaired and I was advised to ring again this week to find out if things were back to normal. I have tried to phone the Acton tip every day since Monday and was unable to get through as the phone was busy every time.Does anyone know what the current state of affairs is?Many thanks.

Wheelie bins

After receiving no bins I now find myself with 2 extra ,a black and blue bin appeared afterreceiving our 2 allotted.When advising I was told that I had to keep them in the front drive for a week or morewhen they may be delivered.I told our Councillors who requested removal,so far on Friday 17th to no avail.One has to be fit and strong to cope with these huge containers,more so when full.

Help Stop Excessive Over-Development in Ealing

Excessive over-development has not just been restricted to Ealing but cities and even on precious green belt.  Open spaces and green areas in the city are vital in improving mental heath of people and also maintaining clean air. Central government has given local councils a quota to build a certain amount of residential properties each year. The reason for all of this is that there is a housing shortage. There are more than one reason for the housing crisis, the government however does not explain that much of the housing shortage has arisen from unlimited and excessive immigration from Europe.  In 2015 the net migration was around 320,000 this is the equivalent of the population of Cardiff.  This means we have to build enough properties to house the equivalent population of the city of Cardiff each year!  Please help address the major causes of excessive over-development by encouraging people to vote to leave the EU.
