Swimming in Ealing

Although it was a bit rough around the edges I liked Gurnell pools and it was so easy to access without using the car.Cross that the site is just going herald more towers and probably take about a decade to complete.So where can one go to swim in Ealing now?Acton - too far, too many school groupsEden - reasonable value but a bit airless David Lloyd - expensive and too farBrentford - any good?Nuffield?Any ideas?

I also used to enjoy Gurnell, despite it having been badly maintained - it was convenient.I have now reverted to using Richmond, which was refurbished a while ago - easily accessible, not too expensive and bonus openair pool in the summer!

The Everyone Active in Acton doesn't seem to me to be too badly overrun by school groups but obviously it would depend at what time you go. It is good for lane swimming and you often get one to yourself and, if not, the etiquette of other swimmers is generally pretty good when sharing.

Fountain in Brentford is OK but has very slippery walkways.Best pool for actual swimming is the Chiswick pool. Basic but pretty good.The Ealing borough ones are all a pain to get to from the South Ealing area.Without the Roadworks and endless delays by bus Richmond Pool remains the best all round pool and what Gurnell should and could have been when it was first planned.
