Ealing Picturehouse opening date confirmed

The new cinema is opening on Friday 20 October according to their email update. I'm still likely to make the Ealing Project my first choice if there is anything I want to see on but looking at ticket prices for the Picturehouse they don't seem too bad - it will be great to have a range of local options.

Shame the builders have spoiled the front of the cinema. Looks like a local shisha bar to me

Thanks for the recommendation.I am looking forward to my first visit. I was quite excited to see films like Mean Streets and Went The Day Well being shown but then noticed the times were during the day when it is impossible for me to get there.Ealing Project ticket prices are cheaper and I really like it as a venue so that will remain my first choice but Picturehouse does discount tickets on a Monday (as does ActOne) and, if they do Meerkat Movies, that means it will be possible to get cheap tickets on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

I paid my first visit today. The staff are very pleasant and there are plenty of them, though that may change once the place gets going. I can only speak for Screen 1 where I was but the screen is weirdly close to the seats (or vice versa). I honestly don't see how anybody could sit in the front row: it would be like watching TV with your nose an inch from the screen. This feels like a major design fail.It has those annoying seat trays, though not as bad at the ones at Chiswick and I got out without any fresh bruises. The seats are a good size and recline slightly.I shall go back, but make sure that I'm sitting nowhere near the front!

That seems to be a feature of all multiplexes including both Vues in Shepherd's Bush. They are never completely full so you just need to remember not to book seats in the first five rows or so.

I haven't found this a problem at the Vues at all -- no comparison. I had a seat in the third row and felt that I couldn't take in all the screen from there so moved back 3 rows.
