Does anyone know what is happening with the old Tesco in Greenford Road? Scaffolding has gone up. And is the new Tesco promised for Greenford Broadway actually going to open? If so, when?

Apparently now there’s a major problem with fly tipping 🤷

Very interesting about the screen. Can't have been many cinemas with this facility. The last film I saw there was SATURDAY NIGNT OUT which featured the Searchers. I didn't know about the Stones.

Granada Greenford it was indeed. A rare design as the whole screen could be 'flown' upwards (hence the really high roofline) to leave the stage clear for groups and other performances.

According to the Cinema Treasures website site it was the Granada Greenford, opened in 1937 and closed in 1966. The Rolling Stones played there and may have recorded part of their Got Live If You Want It album at the Granada!

Correct me if I'm wrong but if I recall the Tesco in Greenford used to be a cinema?

re. the proposed new Tesco in Greenford Broadway. Nothing confirmed, but there's a whole load of Council guff here >>> https://www.ealing.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/21100/tesco_greenford_statement_of_common_ground.pdf
