Patient Records for sale???

I believe a number of GP's have been asked for the private medical details of their patients which may then be sold by the NHS to varius organisations such as Insuance, Banks and so on!A friend mentioned this was featured on breakfast TV last Thursday morning.If this is true (and I have no reason to doubt it) surely it is totally wrong to pass this private and personal information on to anyone let alone organisations who would obviously use this information for their own gain?My friend worked for 9 years in a hospital and she is absolutely astonished, and livid, to think that the NHS, or the Government, (whoever is responsible for such a crazy idea) could even consider this because NO-ONE is allowed to look at a patient's medical information, not even their family.A patient's medical record should be between them annd their Doctor, unless the patient gives permission for this information to be made available to another body.Visitors in a hospital are not even allowed to pick up the chart at the end of the patient's bed to read let alone handing this valuable data on to goodness know who else!Doctors won't give results of tests to a spouse or partner, and that's how it should be. Where do we get a say in all this?The governmet are not to be trusted with all this innformation, remember many cases of files going missing, information being left on trains or thrown in rubbish bins?Has anyone heard about this, and what do you think about it?I know the NHS needs more money but there must be better ways of raising it!

When councillors run for election they ask for your vote so that they may represent you. How is it when they are safely elected they seem unable either to acknowledge or answer emails? This seems to happen in Walpole and Elthorne. Have readers any evidence of this failure to fulfill obligations in other wards?

Evening Standard article re local hospitals 24 March 2015

A&E's  GPs SPENT £13M ON CONSULTANTSOfficials leading a controversial GP-led shake-up of emergency and maternity care in West London spent £13.4million on consultants in 9 months, it was revealed today.The Shaping A healthier Future plan saw the closure of A&E's at Central Middlesex and Hammersmith Hospitals last September. Ealing Hospital's maternity department is due to close this year, and A&E's at Ealing and Charing Cross will be downgraded within years.A Freedom of Information request found that between April and December last year the GPs in charge of the reorganisaion awarded 22  contracts to firms including McKinsey, PwC, PA Consulting anf M&C Saatchi.Health campaigner Dr Louise Irvine said: "These figures cover only 9 months of the 3 years and more that the SAHF project has been running. Eight police cars and vans and ambulances in South Ealing Rd by Wickes.Apparently a big gang fight broke out earlier.

Watermans

One of the main appeals of Watermans was it's site overlooking the river.  It had long since ceased to offer drama for all and was mainly a place to pop in for lunch and a drink and see a film.  The parking charges put one off.  When they hosted the drama schools it was interesting but that seems to have been a one off.  This probably heralds the demise of Watermans as it is likely to close prior to any other space being available and will then struggle to build up again.

The Avenue Antiques, Vintage & Retro Market  Sat 28th 9-5pm

The Market is on again this Saturday.  Opposite West Ealing Station and the The Avenue W13. Outside the Drayton Court Hotel and also this time in the garden of the pub too which is good for kids.  There will be around 30 stalls with a very broad range of items for the collectors and the curious.  Lots of kitchenalia and up-cycling as well as true antiques and true vintage.  Silverwear, precious or unusual books, sewing patterns from the past, Japanese porcelain, vintage tea sets, lace, brass fittings, old tools, art deco, treen, walking sticks and furniture.  Look forward to seeing you all.

I walk regularly along the banks of the River Brent in Pitshanger Park and have never seen any fish. An information board in the park alludes to sticklebacks and perch but has anyone ever spotted any?

Ealing Hospital maternity unit closure

I understand it is likely the closure of Ealing hospital maternity unit will be announced tomorrow at the meeting of the Clinical Commissioning Group for Ealing. I've received an invitation to join the protest but I can also see that Healthwatch Ealing have been closely involved in the discussions about the closure and the Chair, Carmel Cahill, seems to have devoted most of her waking hours to ensuring the closure is safe. The r e has been a other layer of inspection of the decision in February from NHS England. It is of course nice to think that your maternity unit is just down the road when you need it, but the truth is that times have changed. When I had my first child, it was usual to stay in hospital for five days. Now it is more likely to be a few hours. Less beds are wanted. I hope new mums still get fed as having babies is hungry work and I hope the public transport arrangements are in place, but this is not the scary proposal Julian Bell and Rupa Huq would have us believe.

Vehicle Excise checks taking place

Very gratifying to see that somebody has been out enforcing untaxed vehicle offences in the Northfield's area by placing a bl**dy great yellow wheel clamp on the offside front wheel of offending vehicles.Quite surprising just how many untaxed vehicles there are!I'd love to see the faces of the owners when they see those clamps.  :-)

Mail collection reductions

I have just noticed that the Ealing Common area has lost its 5.30pm Royal Mail collections. According to the sign on our nearest post box, the last collection each day is now 9am (repeat 9am) Monday to Friday and 7am on Saturdays. There is just one box in the ward that has a 4pm last collection. How did this sneak in?Is this happening everywhere?
