Which establishment or club wil have the best organised and safest public bonfire display, preferably with food and drinks also available please? Thanks.

Changes in Walpole Park - do you like them?

I walked through today and although I appreciate that work is not complete, I did think the new areas looked a bit 'bleak'. The sunken garden especially.....even the lovely willow tree appears to have gone. I read the blurb and they appear to be trying to take it back to how it looked when the Manor was first built. I felt a bit sad because it's so different from how it was when I was a child. What do others think?

Update on Popes Lane Closure

Finally got a leaflet about this this morning from the contractors, Murphy. They will be doing works all over the area for the next 18 months, but Popes Lane will be affected for a mere four.There will be lane closures at times but also full closures, from Little Ealing to the bottom half of Elderberry Rd.The E3 will not run along Popes Lane at all for the duration, turning from Acton Town down the North Circular, along the A4 and up Ealing Road.So looking forward to it!

FREE Teddy Bears' Party

Come to a FREE Teddy Bears' Party at St James Church, West Ealing (behind Sainsbury's)on Saturday 25th October between 2-5p.m. and bring your little ones.  Refreshments, children's entertainment and fun are on offer.This is to support Ealing Hospital maternity and paediatric services and help to prevent their closure next year.  Please help to ensure that babies will continue to be born in Ealing and children will not have to travel miles out of Ealing for hospital care.

Time to exit Europe?

Should we leave the European Union now? I've always championed the EU and supported its aims and I appreciate that Europe has not had a war for nearly 70 years...but I can't help feeling its time we exited the Union. Anyone have the same sentiments about Europe?

I'm collecting old weather, myths, legends and the like. Would appreciate any you have which do not feature on Google or other search engines. Living near Oldfield Circus

Hi. Long time reader, first-time poster. I was hoping someone who knows the Oldfield Circus area well could help me. I have been living in Greenford for a couple of years but I'm in the process of buying a property on Wadham Gardens near Oldfield Circus. I don't know the area well but up until now I had got the impression it was quite a nice area, and had seemed a quiet residential street. However on visiting the Oldfield Circus shops today I noticed a fair amount of street drinkers around the shopping area for the first time which set the alarm bells ringing a little bit.Please can someone who knows the area better than me comment on what it's like living there - for better or worse. I have a wife and young daughter so obviously want to know what we're getting ourselves in for.ThanksArtur

Walpole Park

The large obelisk feature in front of Spencers Cafe was officially unveiled last Friday resplendent in magnetized gold surfacing.  The idea being that copper coins can be attached in aid of the Mayors Charity fund.  My wife and I visited the very busy park today on our mobility scooters with a bag of coins to dutifully contribute.  Rather surprisingly it was devoid of any coins.  Initial thoughts were, that some official collected them from time to time, so we went ahead with our contribution in company with several other people.  Having queued for coffee we were astonished to see it completely bare again then realised that children were having a whale of a time removing and pocketing the coins as fast as they were attached.  Maybe not such a good idea, but good for Spencer's chocolate trade!

Police tape in west Ealing

Driving through at around 08:30 this morning I noticed that the block of shops between Dean Gardens and the Broadway Food market was taped off with blue police tape and then further down, towards Hanwell, a bus was stopped by Brighthouse and, it too, was completely taped off with police in attendance.Does anyone know why?

Book Club - Chiswick

Hi allJust wanted to post up a message about a book club that has been running in Chiswick for a few years, to see if there is anyone looking to join. We are a group of ladies of mixed ages that meet 4 weeks or so, normally in a local pub in Chiswick. Car Plus: the garage at the junctionof Station Road and Uxbridge Road, Hanwell

I was cycling through the bollards at York Avenue into Station Road when one of the drivers at the Car Plus garage attempted to do a high speed maniac u-turn using York Avenue as the turning point to get back into Station Road. The  bonnet of his car missed me by no more than five feet. He found it hilarious and screamed at me "What's your problem?" after I'd began screaming at him.  He felt it was right to mockingly apologise.  A lovely passer-by called Una witnessed the driving and the apology. She suggested reporting it. I got hold of one of the police officers standing at the Clock Tower to take action. In the course of his investigations it came to light that the driver admitted having no insurance to drive the vehicle, or even held a driving licence.If what I'm told is correct the car belonged to a customer. So you can place the garage,  Car Plus is immediately to the left of the Duke of York pub which is behind the Clock Tower in Hanwell.

Re-purposing the Old Town Hall and moving the library

Whatever comes out of this I personally would like to see the aministration and the central library stay in the Ealing Town Centre where it is easily accessbile via public transport from all parts of the borough. If a new development is required for this project I would really like to see a public swimming pool as part of the package replacing the Longfield Baths that were demolished and never replaced.

Halloween callers - what to give them?

Each year we have callers ringing our doorbell - usually local children whom we recognise(their parents hovering in the distance overseeing their youngsters).  We're usually unprepared and haven't anything apart from money. The question is: what should were have to offer the children?  Any suggestions?
