Mystifing reports of Jobless figures dropping ?

If PART-TIME workers and VOLUNTEERS are amonog those added to create the dropping figures, I think it is deceit .Let a government spokesperson come forward and deny this is NOT the case..........Your Joking me ?

Reported on Ealing Today that West London Waste Authority has shortlisted two contractors to handle residual waste for 6 boroughs including Ealing.Guess who is the chair of WLWA? The one and only Councillor Bassam Mahfouz. Wonder how that will work, and will he have any inside knowledge which he does not wish to reveal before the contract commences? Wrong lorries?

Giant Hogweed

Is there any possibility that one of the cllr's on this forum can ask either Enterprise or TFL to eradicate the Giant Hogweed that is starting to grow along the pavements along Gunnersbury Avenue?  These plants are toxic to the touch and can cause permanent blindness if the sap gets into one's eye.  Very dangerous to youngsters and pets who probably don't know the dangers

Cleaner needed

Hi all,Sadlly, there is a chance that are lovely cleaner may no longer be able to work for us for personal reasons.As we have a baby on the way, we are keen to find a replacement ASAP.Does anyone have any recommendations for a good, honest and reliable cleaner in the Ealing Broadway area please - we are looking for someone to come once every fortnight for 4-5 hours.Thanks

Can You Justify  where Talent shows are leading to .?

Many of us have watched the Talent shows and even enjoyed parts of it. Contestants enter by the hundreds. They come in all shapes and sizes hoping to be some one remembered for their part.  Some presentations are outstanding  but others take part believing they might just be the one to recognised and go forward to the next round. Wonderful so far.Then a few acts are interrupted by the Buzzers. The Participant waits before the Judges to hear their Comments.They cower nervously facing the Judges and their Belittling remarks and insulting add-on discription of their presentation. It is hugely enjoyed and then very ignominiously they are despatched. I cannot help wondering how down-hearted they must feel. ....But for the presenters that is not enough. They make another showing later of all the Failed contestants and once again they face the mockery, insults and belittling for people to find pleasure .The presenters get another big dollop of profit and the humiliated live through the embarassment once again.I took pleasure watching this before but the more i think about this i feel rotten.Can someone tell me if they react now like I do.? Have they signed a contract with the Show presenters ?

Crude and disgusting Television of Talent

The Televised showing of Britain's got Talent on Satursday night the 16th June 2012 was mostly laughable . I wonder ofcourse if it is wise to allow Crude and disgusting presentations. It is neither Entertaining nor just below standard. It was Crude.Belching into the Micrro phone, or sticking the Micraphone to his anusand trying to mix it to the tune of The Blue Danube was downright disgusting.Such scenes should have been Cencored. British Talent does not have to leave the Bar that Low.

Live music down the road in Brentford!

18year old's party - venue

My son and his friend were born on the same day and want to hold a joint 18th birthday party. Neither of us Mums is keen to host it (!!) and unsurprisingly we can't find an external venue either. Has anyone managed to find one and would you recommend?  Thanks

Greenford to Paddington Line

I read that, with CrossRail coming, it will be terminated at West Ealing.  Will Greenford to West Ealing be the shortest branch line in UK, and will it be viable?  Seems a bit of an oddity even now.

Tradesmen and Recycling rubbish

Why is it so difficult nowadays to find a tradesman who is willing to remove rubbish after they complete a job?Apparently they are reluctant to pay to dispose of old carpets, building rubbish etc. I hear that some tradesmen have been dumping rubbish rather than take them to the recycling depot.Surely there must be some way to avoid building rubbish and so on being dumped in our streets? I have heard that North Acton is a popular spot for builders to just offload the contents of their white vans illegally. I think they would prefer to do this rather than dispose of everything legally.Perhaps Builders and tradesmen should either be required to remove the materials properly or arrange with the householder to order a skip beforehand to ensure that everything is disposed of legally!

Here's a run down of bike events that Ealing Cycling Campaign will be running over the course of next week:-Sat 16 June  Doctor Bike and Stall.Ealing Green. From 10am until 4pm. Join us on Ealing Green, at the bottom of Bond Street where Doctor Bike will be present to check over your bike and resolve any minor problems plus advice on all things cycling, cycle maps & leaflets etcSun 17June Family Ride Suitable for families with small children. Short ride to a local leisure spot. Bring a picnic. Depart 10am Ealing Town Hall steps, return 4pm-ish.Wed 20 June Sunset Ride Gentle ride along the river to watch the Sun go down from Richmond Hill. Remember to bring your bike lights. Meet outside Ealing Town Hall. Depart 7pm. Sat 23 June     Doctor Bike and StallActon Park   From 11am until 3pm. Join us in Acton Park by the cafe, where Doctor Bike will be present to check over your bike. Plus advice, leaflets and cycle maps from our information stall. Sun 24 June    Gentle Ride for Children and Beginners Suitable for families with small children. Quiet route to a local Park. Bring a picnic. Depart 10am Ealing Town Hall steps, return 3pm. Anesthetized Democracy at local Government is OK.?

We do have Parliamentary Democracy at Government Level . At local leval we should have more of an egalitarian Democracy.Citizens living in local communities should have the power and the voice to raise issues and be heard on all issues that confront the individual before action is considered.We do not have that.Freedom belongs to Groups that peddle their self Interest. Benifits are decided on a priority basis in the UK.so if some one from abroad is registered in, they are promptly prioritised  over the person or persons who had made application for help with say just two or three children. Guess who jumps the queue? IF this process is repeated it is easy to work out the frustation of the waiting family.Can they raise a voice ?.The Southall area committees have been abandoned, for wards . Many a time I have arrived to find No local Councillor turns up at ward meetings. I am told that two councillors are not even known by anybody. Does anybody Care? This cannot go on for long. Something must give. All over West london particularly Ealing's Borders remain Testimony to neglect.Granted; our resources are scarce, but who are we to share it with.? The Super rich Un-Touchables have the power to own more of everything we once ownned  .The NEEDY in our midst are falling prey to the GREEDY.....and we may say nothing about it ? I am sad to find so much stress among our once happy neighbours. Can we dare to hope that People will see the necessity for Change .?
