This is the BIG ONE !

I'm so excited anticipating the England v.Croatia tonight. Come ten o'clock, it's gonna be make-or-break for Mr McClaren and many of our wealthy footballers. Come on England!  ;-o)

Lovely weather for it too!I reckon Beckham will come off the bench when we're 2-1 down with 10 minutes to go then as we head into injury time he'll bend one of those trademark freekicks into the back of the Croatian net as he did against Greece.Hopefully it won't come down to that, but knowing England....

Speechless............................

I'm not. Mclaren has to go for picking the wrong goalie. Campbell should never be allowed near an England shirt again.  Wrong-Phillips should be rested a while. Liverpool and England should start each game with Crouch of Ealing. Beckham should be back from the kick off.I prefer rugby.

Well there is the Home Countries projected Tournament to possibly look forward to in 2008. Could England beat Scotland? On this showing probably not. I would like to see The Republic in it as well. The pitch by the way was a disgrace. Playing American Football(?) on it doesn't help. Not enough air round it is one problem, that seems not to be the case at the Emmerates Stadium, certainly not to the same degree, because that Stadium has openings in the corners that allows a flow of air over the pitch.Sack the FA,get rid of Soho Square, should have demolished Wembley, and build a massive B & Q on the site.It won't happen of course, like Politicians they will 'spin' their way out of it!!!If the Home Tournament does take place, then take it round the UK, and forget Wembley altogether. When England played at various Stadia round the UK they played better anyway.

Couldn't watch.  It was too painful.  Was that a £500 million Olympic aquatic centre they were playing in?

A valid point I heard on 5Live this morning is that youngsters (11+) should be learning ball playing skills on smaller pitches. Playing on full size pitches at that age only builds stamina at the expense of technique.

We used to trek to a different pitch each Sunday morning with our son.  Quite honestly the state of them was generally quite laughable.  Fields.  They tend to train smaller areas in the parks. This is family friendly when they are little as you can all walk there and watch but there should be more emphasis on people clearing up after their dogs.  The synthetic pitches behind the listed Tesco building are good - but these places tend to be quite expensive because there just aren't enough all weather ones. Football is a universal language.  Kids wherever they are all over the world join in playing with one another whatever the ball is (Coke can, screwed up piece of paper etc) without needing to introduce themselves.  It is important to keep open spaces free for them to let off steam like this.

Now when I was a lad, in Acton Vale almost at the Dawn of Time, we played football with a TENNIS BALL at the side of what used to be Brown Brothers. There was an entrance to a small vehicle parking lot. On Sundays no vehicles, so the entrance acted as a perfect goal. No mud, and the bounce soon tested ball skills to the enth degree!!
