Road closure today

Why did Plod block off the road past Drayton Manor High today?

A house over the back of us a across the road from the school a few doors from Dryden Ave was on fire...not sure how bad it was as I was at work and it was dark by the time I was home,  but there was lots of smoke and the road was closed for hours according to the radio.  It gave my daughter an awful shock when she looked out of the attic window to see all the smoke and she called for her boyfriend to call 999 - but then he noticed that there were already firemen in the back garden.

My daughter, a pupil at DM High, said that it was an arson attack, someone threw an incendiary device into the house.

God how awful!  I hope that's not true!My daughter is at Drayton Manor too, she'd seen the fire, which was literally only a few yards from our house, from school and didn't even mention it when she got home, having just walked past the house and all the fire-engines!  Sometimes I wonder if I got someone elses daughter by mistake!
