Keith,The new England manager should be selected on the basis of their skills and experience rather than their nationality. Just because someone is English doesn't make them necessarily better qualified to manage the English national team - look at the records of Steve McLaren, Kevin Keegan and Graham Taylor. We must stop looking backwards with rose-tinted spectacles and accept that the game is completely globalised now. Most of the best current and recent managers in the Premier League are non-English (including Sir Alex Ferguson and Martin O'Neil) and many international teams are now coached very successfully by foreigners. It is hard to argue that the next generation of English managers (Curbishley, Coppell, Allardyce etc) would fare any better than McLaren and they are certainly less well qualified than Capello.Whilst I don't think Capello is necessarily the right man for the England job, my opinion is not on his nationality. I would prefer someone like Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger or Guus Hiddink but each of these have their own reasons for not being available for the job, so it looks like we're going to get Capello.Capello's style of football may not be attractive but at least he has a proven track record of winning trophies. Let's see if he can repeat his previous success with what remains of England's "Golden Generation"!
