Sky.... Avoid like the plague

Thinking of getting sky??? Don't bother. I have spent 2 hours on the phone today waiting for their muppet engineer. They were supposed to come out on thursday and despite me giving my mobile and work numbers for him to call before he arrived to ensure that I was in my apartment to let him in he didn't bother. Even after he rang Sky headquarters to say he couldn't get in to my flat as there was no one in, no one bothered to check the notes. I was re booked today and advised that someone would be here between 8am and 9 am..... I am still waiting at 6.30 in the evening. I was supposed to go christmas shopping today as it's my only weekeend off before christmas but i have been held to ranson in my home due to the incompetence of these muppets. I was promised a call from the engineering department within 1/2 an hour at 10 am this morning.... i am still waiing... Wouldn't mind so much but they have seemed to cause the problem in the first place with a signal sent down my linee on tuesday. lost everything. I am tempted to let the engineer have the sky box in a place where the sun doesn't shine.... my advice avoid sky like the plague. Anyone elsse had problems with these idiots?????

Haven't had that problem with sky (yet) but on Friday I had to wait in for over eight hours for a delivery from John Lewis. Totally outrageous if you think that Ocado - under the same general label - offer one hour slots - that Amazon give you free delivery if you spend £15. Yet I had to wait in a whole day, having spent £355 on a new telly. And then pay for the delivery. Any time 0900 - 1730 they said so I thought fine - it's coming from Park Royal, a whole half mile away - they are always here by ten in the morning. Only to find, when it was too late, that John Lewis internet have outsourced their delivery to some useless outfit called citylink who will give no information or specifics and think it's perfectly OK to keep the customer (obviously not THEIR customer - that's JLP) hanging around for a whole day.I won't be using JLP internet again.

Well it just goes to show we all have different experiences!  I think John Lewis are brilliant, Ocado are dodgy (but better than Tesco who couldn't even deliver on the right day and kindly offered us our £5 delivery charge back - considering we spent over £200 a week I think that was pathetic).Sky is a great product but the installation was sh*te.  Really messy and untidy.

I found Sky to be great. They installed on time and when I said I didnt want the ugly dish on the side of the house they got out the ladder and bolted it next to the TV aerial on the chimney. (£30 extra but worth it). As I work every evening Sky Plus is a godsend - simply set the programme i want and series link and its recorded every time. They were also very good when I transferred broadband from Orange to Sky - calls answered promptly and the process was very smooth. Maybe you got them on a bad day.

Our instalation had the odd hiccup. Customer service was good even on Christmas Day.  However I object to being lumbered with an extra 8 quid a month to pay for service after a year.Hell was NTL pre Virgin.  Like Jagger I could get no satisfaction.

We don't have Sky or any of the others.The reception on my wireless of 2LO is getting rather weak these days.  :-(
