Everybody has their favourite pool - most often though it is the convenience of getting to it which makes the difference.  Brentford Fountain is yet another municipal complex not getting all the tlc it needs. The training pool is shallow and you cannot dive into it or tumbleturn. It is also too warm for many swimmers who want to swim lengths. It is good for small children learning to swim. It has off poolside communal showering which takes a lot of people unawares - with the separate changing cubicles off this. They do have lanes sessions though so it depends on how you like it and whether the times suit you.Acton SC has a very good Masters section running at Acton Baths.  A great group of people who would certainly inspire you to get fit.  Many of them competed when younger and still do now.  Others could hardly swim when they joined the group. See their website to see if any of their sessions suit you.  The evening sessions at Acton are the most popular but there are some dedicated morning swimmers (6-7am)!!I have played badminton in various places - most often and recently at Brentford Fountain.  They have drop-in sessions on Monday mornings which they don't advertise but which I suspect will still be there.  (Beginners 10-11 and Improvers 11-12 with a coach organising the players who do not have to go in pairs. There is a creche so this tends to be just mothers)  There is a Badminton Club on Wednesday evenings which seems to be very popular. I don't know how this works though. (It has changed over the years.)
