Junk Mail

I still have a few things that I have not managed to stop.I believe some of this junk mail is as a result of ignoring a box when ordering online.  If the stuff comes in on email then there generally seems to be a way to unsubscribe.  Not so the catalogues through the post.This is the info from the LBE website:"Junk mail – reduce paper waste by registering with the national Mailing Preference Service. This is a free service to enable customers to have their individual names and home addresses in the UK removed from lists used by the industry. To register, visit www.mpsonline.org.uk or call 0845 703 4599. To get a free 'no junkmail' sticker, email: recyclingteam@ealing.gov.uk."

Pity we can't do that with 'Spam' Philippa! At least mine goes into a junk box so that I can extract the odd genuine message that finds its way in among 'Nat West customers please reveal your account details'.Or get yourself a gigantic new organ with these pills.

I've had a lot of Nat West emails and some emotional blackmail ones also asking me to reveal all bank details.  It is tempting to write something silly in reply but apparently that just makes it worse.  So you just have to enjoy the power of pressing the Delete button. They have stopped trying to sell me bigger or smaller pills recently but I have inundated with fantastic offers for glitzy watches instead.Greatest coup on the unsolicited mail was stopping my bank from sending me credit card cheques.  These made me feel vulnerable as they say in big writing everywhere that these cheques can't be stopped - but what if someone intercepted them before they got to me?  It would be a hassle I don't want. It is all there in the tiny tiny small print - you just have to phone them and answer a load of silly security questions and say you don't want them but although I pay my husband's credit card bills as well from the joint account - I can't of course stop his junk mail from them!

And also the Telephone Preference Service (linked to the MPS).But it only works within the UK.I still get the odd phone call saying that i have won a Disney trip in the deepest American accent......Still waiting for Camelot to turn up unsolicited on my doorstep with a big fat juicy cheque though.....
