Sad lawn

Need help with advice about our sad lawn. After the wet winter, our lawn is in a very sorry state. Each year, I follow the instructions from an old Percy Thrower handbook on lawn care, but this year I want to give the lawn a thorough going over. Any tips please from you keen gardening pros? I really want to get our lawn looking as it did when it was laid some years ago. Thanks.  :-(

You could try reseeding it.  There are different grades of lawn seeds and if you've an average Ealing lawn even the very very best wouldn't be too costly.

Thanks Leon, we were thinking of reseeding, but what should one do to prepare a sad, weed infested and winter-worn lawn before spreading the seed around? Any ideas?
