Acton Market - the latest news for Sat 26 January
A reminder that Acton Market is the place for Give and Take Day this Saturday, a free event to encourage you to give household items you no longer need, or take things you do. The event starts at 12:30 and we ask that all donations be at the market before 2pm. Give and Take Day will be held the last Saturday of every month at Acton Market, and is in partnership with Ealing Council and Action Acton. The Craft Market will be on as usual, unless we have severe inclement weather as was the case last week.Farmer's Market - We know you like to be kept informed whenever there are new producers at the Acton farmers' market, so we are very pleased to let you know that this Saturday we have a brand new stall at the market.Carol Stoneham makes traditional preserves and bakes a fabulous range of cakes, all in her own home near Maldon, Essex. Her range includes greengage jam, bread-and-butter pickle, bakewell tarts, apple cakes, carrot cake, treacle tarts and apple chutney. She also makes a fantastic tomato ketchup which is quite unique and tastes of real tomatoes; it's a world away from the heavily processed tomato ketchups you might find on supermarket shelves. Carol sources the majority of her produce from the farms in her local region, and so you can be sure of fine quality produce from top quality regional farms. She will work out a schedule based on how the weekend goes. There will also be an appearance from the ever-popular Lincolnshire Poacher, who make fine artisan cheddar-style cheese, as well as deliciously creamy raw milk and butter, subject to availability. They only attend once a month, so don't miss your chance to stock up on dairy produce for your larder this weekend. The Parson's Nose would like to apologise to all their loyal customers as they will not be able to make it this weekend, but will certainly be back, as they love the market and their 'fanbase' there. Also, you have a chance to vote for your favourite farmers' market in the third annual Observer ethical awards. This year the awards include the category of Best Local Retailer. For more information, see http://observer.guardian.co.uk/ethicalawards and enter!Thankyou very much for your continued support of the Acton farmers' market, particularly through this cold and wintry period. We appreciate that the market has been a little smaller in January than it is normally, but this should change soon as more produce comes into season, fishermen are able to get out to sea more often, etc...
