Padded Lamposts in Ealing?

I note that in Brick Lane, there is a move a foot to fit padding to lamposts and other street furniture because of an increasing number of accidents caused by people running into them whilst texting. Pathetic or what? I have read that this happens to pedestrians when they walk out into the road and get run over because of the same thing. Apparently in Brick Lane they have the highest number of such accidents, hence the need for padding, although why Brick Lane has the highest number of such accidents remains a mystery.I suppose one could have such an accident in Northfields after a few to many wee drams, or in Barnet for that matter, but Gerry and myself know that the safest place to do that is in the armchair at home!!

What a load of c*ck!It should be mandatory that texters wear quilted clothing and protective headgear.Perhaps we should have "bendy" lamp posts in case cars hit them. We wouldn't anyone's 4x4 damaged would we? Not in Ealing anyway.Perhaps it is fortunate that it is pedestrians who hit the lamp posts and not car drivers who are using their phones illegally.Thank God we (Ealing) don't have a Lib-Dem council. Maybe it's the councillors who bump into the posts...

Oops! I'm way out of date. They've been Labour for a while but were Lib-Dems before. No improvement there, then!But the Lib-Dems did help get them into the present mess.Tower Hamlets is currently composed of 27 Labour Councillors, 8 Conservative Councillors, 7 Respect Councillors, 6 Liberal Democrat Councillors and 3 Respect (The Unity Coalition) Councillors.

Texters who walk straight into you and chattering buggy bargers who push you off the pavement - it is a fairly aggressive world out there!  So they are looking after the lampposts - what about other pedestrians?  Perhaps the Council is afraid of being sued for some reason?

Sued? your probably right Philippa. What gets me though is when these people step out into oncoming traffic, or bump into ones self, its always your fault and never their's.Tie them to a lampost with the phone ringing, but just out of reach, that might concentraste their minds wonderfully!
