Happy St Pat's Day

To all my lovely Irish friends and neighbours, I wish you all a very happy St Patrick's Day!I'll be screaming for you at Twickers this pm, not that I'll be there sadly - shall be in front of my telly with my green, orange and white joker's hat on and with a bottle of Jamesons on the table!..."Shoulder to sho-o-ulder..."  ;-O)

It appears that septuaginarians not teenagers are the ones who should be required to take an oath of allegiance to HM. I think he must really be Gerry O'Tan SWING LOW SWEET CHARIOT!

Ah, is that yourself Graham?!  Yes, today I'm an honorary Irishman and I'm well ensconced on m'sofa already, with m'Jamesons and singing loudly:"Come the day and come the hour, Come the power and the glory. We have come to answer Our Country's call From the four proud provinces of Ireland. Ireland, Ireland, Together standing tall, Shoulder to shoulder We'll answer Ireland's call...":-o)

What we have in common, Gerry, is support for minorities. A good Arsenal supporting friend is taking me to the Emirates. As a Yorkshireman my support will be for the visitors, Middlesbrough.

Exactly so Graham - enjoy the match, whatever!  ;-)

What a great way for the English to celebrate St Patrick's Day with a crushing victory over Ireland at Twickers, enabling them to finish 2nd in the 6 Nations table. I hope the lads sink a few pints of the Black stuff tonight! ;-)I particularly enjoyed Cipriani's performance on and off the field (did anyone else see him swear on live TV?)

It was a good match James - most enjoyable. But didn't the Welsh do well?! Agood afternoon's TV.  ;-)

It was good that the Welsh beat the French as it meant that England finished in 2nd place in the final table.Overall it was a funny old competition this year - not the best quality but enjoyable nonetheless.

No one seems to have pointed out that Saint Paddy's day is the 17th.Are there no Irish on this forum.

Oh begorrah, and I was mislead into thinking it was today, now I shall have to persuade Linda into getting me some MORE Guinness from out of the housekeeping.

Francis, it was moved forward to the 15th this year as the 17th falls in Holy Week.

...although having said that, the parades are generally (Dublin, New York etc) still being held tomorrow to avoid confusion (the St Patrick's Day brand has been marketed worldwide as being on 17th March). It makes one wonder who should decide when Saints days and other religious festivals should be held - the church or politicians/commercial enterprises?

"it was moved forward to the 15th this year as the 17th falls in Holy Week"From which I conclude that though St P may be holy, his celebrations are not.My congratulations to the Taffs for their Grand Slam.
