Brentham how to sound and what derivation

Pitshanger Community held a big quiz night at Brentham Club. Got me wondering - how is Brentham pronounced - is it Bren - tham or brent-(h)am  and where is this word derived from - thinking along lines of Brent and Ham but surely someone knows more

Being a long time member of Brentham Tennis Club, we've always said it with the "th" in the middle pronounced as in the word "the".  Regarding the derivation, I'll leave that to the local historians.How was the quiz? Any cunningly clever questions on the night?

I always thought that the 'Brent' part of the name refered to its close presence to the River Brent. 'Ham' might refer to a sentlement near the River in the Brent Valley, just a thought from someone who lived there for some years.

The quiz questions were usual in that some were answerable and some were a lost cause or was that just our table!!!- you know the feeling you get all the right answers but not necessarily in the right order - say on villains in Bond Movies which was a disaster for us and maybe a boon for othersThere were some clever components though on the Marathon including a little tale where you had to enter in the blanks and the blanks related to pop groups etc. sounded like a tale written by Enid BlytonFor the curious - here is a dingbat - what is the answerHell 2 - Heaven 1ps a quiz some months back had a question of "who was told I am playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order"
