snowploughs this morning
We wanted to get to Somerset this morning for a christening and left at 7 just as the snow arrived. The further we got from London the heavier the snow became and the slower we went, until we got just past Fleet services, then we stopped.(This had taken us 2 hours) The long hill on the M3 just past there was covered in compacted snow and was impassable, cars spinning all over the place plus minor collisions to add to the confusion. We had to wait 3/4 of an hour for a gritter with a snowplough on front to open the motorway again. We gave up after that and came home (the London bound side had been ploughed and gritted so sailed along) to a nice warm open fire and bacon butties.
