Filming in Ealing

We always seem to be talking about this, and why not!Did anyone notice filming at the west end of Mattock Lane on Monday 7th?  There was a lovely old Routemaster bus, and one of the shops on St John's Parade was dressed up as Cafe Trevi.Just curious - anyone know what was being filmed?

We couldn't help but notice the filming as it was at the end of our road! I was surprised and alarmed as I first approached St John's Parade when a policeman, who was in the middle of the road, pointed at me in my approaching car! For a moment I thought the police had caught up with me, as he pointed to where he wanted me to divert. As I slowly cruised right through the middle of their set-up, I realised it was some kind of 1930s film being shot. Yes I'd like to know what the film is called.  ;-)

The film is called An Education and is set in the 1960s, based on a screenplay by Nick Nornby and starring Emma Thompson.See here: http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt1174732/The whole parade of shops was transformed, with old signage, a 1960s bridal-wear shop, a Dulux/DIY store etc. Jackie in the green grocers filled me in; they got to keep the sign when the street was returned to the 21st century.I popped along to see the filming and there were some extras being bouffed up into teddy boys, plus among the period vehicles a splendid maroon Bristol car, which is vital to the plot, apparently.
