Laser eye corrective surgery

Has anyone had this treatment via a laser operation?  I'm fed up with having to wear spectacles and have been considering laser correction fo some time now.  I've read a lot about this procedure and know the costs, but I'd like to know the opinions of people who have had the operation and their views about this so called "miracle" treatment, especially if you're elderly. i've also had a chat with my GP, but would like to hear some personal experiences. Thanks, would welcome any comments.

I had some laser treatment some time ago to correct eye fluid pressure,, the excess of which can lead to glaucoma. This was successful , but eventually the pressure reverted to what it had been for many years. The conclusion being in my case that pressure on the highish side was a normal phenomina, which some people had. Not the sort of Laser Treatment to correct short sight that you had in mind Gerry, but as a treatment it did no harm. if that helps as far as worry is concerned.

Thanks Lynn, I had a look - most useful. Am truly cheesed off with specs - I keep losing mine or breaking 'em!  Perhaps I should have eaten more carrots when I was younger!

Gerry,I paid for my daughter to have her eyes 'zapped' about 5 years ago as she was very short sighted and can highly recommend Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, it is one of the top opthalmic centres in the world.Laser surgery in many cheaper centres have quite a high failure rate, as much as 10% but Moorfields failures are around 3%.Costs 5 years ago were in the region of £3k but worth every penny.
