Well done to Brian, Peter. Historically of course Ealing was part of Middlesex. After all in The Boat Race the North side of the Thames is refered to as the Middlesex side. When I lived in Ealing, I always considered it to be also part of Middlesex, as my ancient map circa 1650 shows, although postal wise Middlesex started in Perivale, and Greenford. I now live in Hertfordshire postalwise. The border with Middlesex being at the end of my garden, Enfield / Southgate being on the other side of the vestiges of an ancient hedgerow.
