Any recommendations for removals firms?

Sadly we're leaving lovely Ealing for Somerset in the next month and I wondered if anyone has any experience of removals firms that they can recommend or if anyone has any general advice re what to look out for? We'll be moving a houseful of stuff and will probably need a packing service too and all suggestions would be really welcome.  Thanks!

We've used Smarts of Northolt twice and so have family and a few neighbours. They seemed very efficient and highly professional - took great care with delicate antiques like our long case clocks, which they dismantled(removed pendulums and weights etc) and wrapped in industrial bubble wrap.  They do a full packing service if required and provide fully insured storage if necessary.  And they seemed a nice sort of family crew of seven strong men and girls. Locally based, I think in Greenford and ship abroard if necessary, so they're bound to do sunny Somerset.  Good luck with your move.

Gerry after seeing your reply re Smarts removals it brought back memories so I shot off an email.........Just a Question Your name popped up on the Ealing forum I was wondering was you the company that was located in West Ealing and were you related to Smarts the Circus people Your Victor Mullins.......Heres the answer........Dear Mr Mullins, we were indeed based in  West Ealing and we are now trading via the fourth generation of the Smart family. My Grand Father , Frank who lived in Felix Road W13 was in fact Billy Smart's brother . So in answer to your question we are the very same family and company. If you need any more information we will endeavour to give you the answers,                                    With Best Regards,                                                                  Tom Smart

That's interesting Victor.  As I recall when chatting to the removal crew, they were all related to each other - a real family operation.  Such nice people they were too and so careful when wrapping and shifting all our clobber. Can't recommend Smarts highly enough. Thanks Victor.
