Which is the Best Pub in Ealing?

I was talking to a friend today about which is the best pub in Ealing the discussion was long! The factors involved were best decor, best service, best location, beer garden and so on! Can you tell me what you think! Alan www.homesearchconsultancy.com

My faves are The Plough and The Red Lion in St Mary's Road. Good, polite service, good food and pleasant interiors. The garden at the Red Lion is very pretty and the pub itself is largely unmodernised and so nice now the smoke has gone.

Yeah the plough is nice lots of cosy seating areas and lots of staff to serve you quickly. I've not been to the red lion is that over the road from ealing studios? Alan www.homesearchconsultancy.com

Hi Alan, yes it is.It has lots of Ealing comedy memorobilia on the walls too which makes for interesting browsing.

My personal preference is the Rose and Crown, just behind St Mary's church.  Like the Red Lion, it's a Fullers pub, so you pretty much know what you're getting there.  The beer garden's more open than the Red Lion.  Also during a recent visit to the Lion, I found the food menu to be smaller than the Rose & Crown

The roast dinner at the Red Lion is excellent! As is the quality of the beer if you drink real ale, they always have a guest ale on which have been varied and very good.

This should lead on to where should we have the next meet and when?

Shall we start in the rose & crown for a few then head to the red lion for a bit to eat then if we have time then onto the plough......Alan www.homesearchconsultancy.com

What a good idea Graham and Alan.  The Rose & Crown and the Red Lion are our locals, both excellent for an EalingToday posters' get-together.Are you kindly gonna organise it Alan?  If so, count us in.  It would be great if some of those friendly ActonW3 posters attended too.  ;-)

I Think we need a few more good pubs & people to come. So if your reading this give us a reply & give us your ideas!Alan www.homesearchconsultancy.com

Surely Alan, we only need one place to have a get-together.

Count me in wherever.

I like the Ealing Park Tavern. It has a good atmosphere, a good range of wines - a garden. Not quite so central, of course :)

Hi all (first time poster, but had to get in on this!)...The New Inn - fantastic carvery for £9 on sunday, it is the best in the area by a long shot...Northstar - for the selection of beers (although pricing seems to have increased somewhat recently)The Drayton Arms (does this count?) - Massive garden (and right near my house :-)Thanks,John

What are the important elements that make a good pub?

Gerry Tan ● 6623d

At least one real ale, staff who are cheerful and know what they are doing, some good wines and beer, well-kept. Muted and unfussy decor..a garden if at all possible...no juke boxes no (or restricted to one area) telly especially football or music  and good, simple food. Pleasant location and easy parking both help of course. George Orwell had it about right - as usual...was it the "Moon under water"...or the Moon and sixpence or somesuch? And there is a wonderful poem by john Betjeman about the desecration of a pub though I can't recall what it's called.

I really like the Drayton and have spent quite a lot of time there recently, one way and another.  The beer is good and the bar staff efficient and charming. Will make a bit effort to turn up to the next get together.

Personally I'm quite fond of the Grange which is a good pub with good food in a good location. It's been a while since I was in the Ealing Park Tavern but I do remember it as serving a nice pint.

I would vote for the Red Lion. The food is very good and it is a relatively female friendly pub.
