Wheelchair wanted!

I am,thankfully temporarily, in need of a wheelchair following a foot operation. Does anyone have a wheelchair they would like to get rid of? Obviously I would pay for it,plenty on e bay, but local would be easier, long shot I know, but worth a shot!

We have hired one from the Red cross in the pasthttp://www.redcross.org.uk/standard.asp?id=75Hope your foot is better quickly - I have just had a week on crutches with one foot in a temporary plaster and it was a nightmare!  Will be another two weeks before it is better but at least I can walk on it.

Thank you both, will look into renting/borrowing. It would be better any way not to have to store it.There is no room now with all the piles of books I have been reading while stuck on the sofa!Can't wait to walk again!

It is worth making a note of what you find difficult to do now so that you can re-organise/find a solution in case you are in the same situation again.It is not until you are forced to stop that you realise just how much moving about that you do.It is pretty difficult to carry anything when you are on crutches!Making a cup of tea is no longer that simple! I found that I could lean against the worktop to reach the mug, the tea, fill the kettle, boil it and tip in into the mug, reach a spoon and take out the bag and food-waste bin it. Then came the problem.  The milk was in the fridge on the other side of the room.  I couldn't get the mug to the fridge or the milk to the mug.When I wanted to write anything down I found that I had paper but no pen....or pen and no paper and would sit on the sofa searching the room to see if I could spot one before trekking cross-country to look.I also had caffeine withdrawal symptoms because the sudden difficulty in tea-making was compounded by the fact that every time I needed to go to the loo I had to go up the stairs on my bottom. Ratty is an understatement. I was desperate to get out of the house for a change.I learned my lesson to not try and carry all the washing downstairs in one go.  (I had missed the last step, fallen and sprained both ankles.) It was also a real eye-opener.Good luck to you both and may you relax enough to enjoy the books Susan!

Thank you for making me laugh! I too find the cup of tea making a bit of a task. I managed yesterday to make one in a starbucks cup with a lid so I could carry it in my pocket, but now one of my 'helpful' family has put it I know not where! However as you say, going upstairs to the loo is such a major undertaking that it's just as well. Also a little apprehensive about actually leaving my house for the first time in 3 weeks!
