well, what has happened to it? why do you ask? has it disappeared??

It's all closed up and looks abandoned - just wondering if they were having a refurb or was it another pub hitting the dust

ah-hah. well it's no great loss IMHO. Maybe they could turn it into an old-style pub, and call it, let's see, the Feathers or something.

hmmmm.....now there's an idea. Although I agree that the Town House was a bit of a hole, its always sad to see another pub bite the dust.I see the Sir Michael Balcon is doing a roaring trade though

The Sir Michael Balcon? What/where the heck...??(later) Just googled it. The latest incarnation of Crispin's it seems (am i right?) and a Wetherspoons to boot. Just what we need to complement Primark and the pound shops. Still, another lager-and-Magners palace to keep the riff-raff away from the Red Lion can only be welcomed. Will check out the late, not lamented Town House this arvo when I schlep up to the Broadway to inspect the new drop-off facility outside the station (see separate thread re. parking fine).

It is indeed the latest incarnation of Crispins - the old Crispins sign even became visible for a few days during the refurb and my other half got all nostalgic.Anyway it was heaving on Friday night and looked to have attracted a rather unsavoury crowd - still cheap booze will do that

A hotel chain has purchased the Town House.

Hmmm - Travel Inn or Travelodge, perhaps?
