Savings

So guys, are you all putting your money under your mattresses? Where's safe? I have no savings at all, just debts but were I to win the lottery this week (assuming the govt. hasn't given it all to the banks) where would I put my £50?

A couple of good Single Malts? Maybe Gordon could sell you two from his Cellar? On the other hand maybe not, our dour Prime Minister probably doesn't touch a drop of 'The Hard Stuff'.

Your £50 is guaranteed everwhere - wouldn't worry.Given the German and the Irish - though not the Icelandic- policy, I reckon if it is in one or several of the big, public facing banks/building societies, it should be pretty safe.

I was looking at the list of premium bond winners on teletext the other day and I was amazed to see just how many people are up to the limit of £30,000, over 90% I reckon (and there's me with my £100). There was one Ealingite with a £10,000 win - anybody seen Gerry lately?
