Acton Tram Depot

Sad to hear that the splendid Victorian Edifice along the Uxbridge Road is in danger of demolition.Lot of History, Transport wise about the Depot.Wrote a little piece about it on Acton Forum,Long time ago , over 70 years since Trolleybuses briefly used it, even longer since the last Tram rumbled out through its doors into the mists of time. Another piece of Ealing to Acton History along the old route into London that is the Uxbridge Road gone forever.

Looks that way Stefan, unless a combination of a Petition plus Recession puts things on semi-permanent hold.

Originally built to house fifty horse trams in 1895, operational 1896, and the reference to the tram depot and stables together with the large paddock is nostalgic.Subsequently the electric tram was introduced by London United Tramways in 1901 from Shepherds Bush, through Acton, Ealing and Hanwell to terminate at Southall.
