Are there any Makro Pensioners out there?

I received my usual Christmas card from Makro and was looking forward to receiving a hamper as usual just in time for Christmas.Well folks, Scrooge is alove and kicking and working for Makro because along with the card came a letter explaining that due to the current financial situation they would no longer be sending out hampers to Makro pensioners at Christmas!  Nice one Makro, Thanks a lot!I wonder if the well heeled Directors are also taking a pay cut? I very much doubt it!What do other pensioners think of this mean minded company?

Re  What do other pensioners think of this mean minded company?            xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx  Not much. I am not a Makro employee but card holder. They've been going downhill for years. Dearer in many instances than elsewhere retail!, and increasingly poor choice in non food goods

Did you receive a paycheck for your work there Robert? Did you honestly expect them to keep saying "thank you" to you every year? They don't owe you a hamper every year. And by the way, did you ever write and thank them for the hampers you did receive? I was responsible to send out gifts to retirees and never once did any one of them either pick up the phone or write and thank the company. A new "Director" soon stopped the gifts. Needless to say, since I retired I've never received, nor expected to receive, anything from the company I worked for for over twenty years.

Audrey, as a matter of fact I DID say thank you for the hampers which I received. I belong to the "old school" where a simple curtesy like saying thank you still matters very much.Sadly to say that in today's society taking the time to respond to kindness seems to have gone by the wayside.In Makro's case they send out a christmas card to say they hope we have a merry christmas and then put a letter with the card to say they won't be sending a hamper out in the future!  Not that it was an expensive hamper or anything but to a pensioner it did help a little.In my opinion it would appear that pensioners are at the bottom of the pecking order as far as employers - or the government are concerned.I would like to see ministers or these highly paid directors trying to survive on an normal pension. Even my small company pension is now under threat.
