A lovely Hanwell hairdressers/beautician - Venus

Can I just recommend a recently started local business? Venus Hair and Beauty on Greenford Avenue Hanwell (near the Co-op) It is a Polish-run hair salon with sunbed, brow-bar and nail-bar etc.  I am just a local English lady who was charmed by the staff and very impressed by their standards and prices. Absolutely no connection with them, just a happy customer who thinks we should support our local businesses in these hard times.

Re  just a happy customer who thinks we should support our local businesses in these hard times.          xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx      hardly local my dear if Polish run, plenty of genuine indig ones in Ealing that may well do with support?. If this one were the only one available I would favour supporting it but as I said, many others of genuine local content exist who may well be feeling the pinch due to the change in the nature of the population as you don't see many persons of dark skin pigmentation using the services of traditional English hairdressers.

Would you like to recommend an 'indig' one then?

Diane Gill ● 6508d

Excellent ranting, Tony. You must be so proud.Anybody who has the cojones (ooh! nasty foreign word) to start a business at the moment deserves respect.

Re  Would you like to recommend an 'indig' one then?             xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx        I was always told when in employment not to recommend a product or business as it could backfire onto "us " if something went wrong, so I am therefore reluctant to do as you ask, but I have a very close friend who is a partner in that line of business and who says what I did in my previous posting. And thank you for your interest.

Regardless of nationality.....

He is kidding and winding us all up isn't he?Surely...

Sara if you read the Forum, as I have done, over the past few weeks you will now that this gentleman - Tony Price - is very, very serious indeed.

Re  Sara if you read the Forum, as I have done, over the past few weeks you will now that this gentleman - Tony Price - is very, very serious indeed.          xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx      thank you. Over certain matters I am very serious / concerned, that being the demise of our Borough as it used to be and still should be. What I had said in all my posts on albeit a limited number of threads, relates to that concern. I was drawn to this particular thread because of my friend's involvement. As to the person to whom you are otherwise referring to in this post, I think you will find that person spams this Forum, and I now see the Acton one as well, under almost every thread existing with multi-various messages, with hardly any of significance. And I am still awaiting the detailed explanation from that source as to why she says I am not saying the truth as I see it but winding people up. So S N , let's be having your detailed reasoning, for which I thank you in advance.

On the contrary, Sara's contributions to both forums are sensible and to the point.

I enjoy Susan’s posts.

Re I enjoy Susan’s posts.           xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx      good, there's plenty of 'em

Tony Price ● 6507d

Me too - and she knows where to place apostrophes. Such an advantage, but of no use to a ranter I suppose.

Sara Nathan ● 6507d

We heard you the first time, Tony.

Susan Kelly ● 6507d

Re We heard you the first time, Tony.           xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx        in the context of the post your's is following I don't follow that, but still am waiting why my original post on this thread was regarded as a wind-up.        And equally significant is the fact there has been no proper elaboration on the subject matter of this thread since that post, which was a reasonable response to the original. All that have followed are superfluous to say the least. Illuminating maybe, but of no import.

Tony Price ● 6507d

You said the same thing twice, Tony. You sounded like Fred Elliot.

Susan Kelly ● 6507d

Re You said the same thing twice, Tony.             xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx      and I've asked the same thing twice, but ain't got nuffinks

Tony Price ● 6507d

Lets not forget the original reason for the post was a fairly innocuous comment recommending a hairdressers in Hanwell.  Whilst it might not be everyone's cup of tea to visit said establishment it was a worthwhile post regardless of who owns the hairdressers. The Forum is going to reflect a number of various different views - some of which we like and some of which we don't like!

Diane Gill ● 6507d

Re  some of which we like and some of which we don't like!          xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx    I did not not like the post. Apart from the heading which initially got my attention was the " requirement " to support the salon as it is local and run by Polish persons, to which I said there are others which are local in all senses and should be supported. And I strongly believe there are many indigenous workpeople of all sorts of trades who share the same belief as mine, in fact we know that, not just locally but on a national scale. On the other hand, a  Polish delicassen should not be run by English people but by Poles and supported by all who wish to avail themselves of Polish foodstuffs etc etc.

Tony Price ● 6507d

I can see some sort of arguement for a Polish delicatessan featuring delicacies from there being run by a Pole who can source the stock knowledgably and prepare it correctly. But how can that apply to hairdressing? Polish hair is, as far as I am aware, no different from English, Welsh or Scottish hair. Nor are the skills required distinguishable. The recommendation to a "local" hairdresser was quite straightforward in suggesting you should support a good hairdresser in your vicinity. The localness is not predicated on who owns the shop nor their nationality nor antecedents. Why should it be?

Sara Nathan ● 6507d

Re The localness is not predicated on who owns the shop nor their nationality nor antecedents.          ccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccp      But one tends to support home industry especially in difficult times. The original post was a recommendation plain and simple, on the basis of it being local and Polish run. So I make no apology for standing up for my countrymen.  My posts were not a wind-up as you contend, suggesting my bona fides are suspect.

Tony Price ● 6507d

Some positives of this thread:Until this thread was made I was unaware there was a Co-op on Greenford Avenue.Assuming the entrepreneur has done her business plan correctly there must be a reasonable number of ladies in north W7 in need of beautification. Maybe this will relieve pressure on similar establishments in the W3, W5, and W13 areas.BTW on the subject of beauty salons could someone tell me what "full body waxing" is, please? And does it hurt?

Alan Brainsby ● 6507d

With regards to my comment on 'some of which we like and some we don't like'  This refers to the views individuals hold on the Forum not the subject matter.Tony - Recommendations please of local hairdressers that are 'indig'.  We can always find fault (in this case as the owners are Polish) But it is usually more helpful to come up with another recommendation in its place. As far as a full body wax is concerned I am sure someone out there has had one and is still suffering from this very painful 'treatment'!

Diane Gill ● 6506d

Re  Tony - Recommendations please of local hairdressers that are 'indig'.  We can always find fault (in this case as the owners are Polish) But it is usually more helpful to come up with another recommendation in its place.                xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx    Whereas I respect your wish for a recommdation etc, I am reluctant, a) because I do not have personal experience of the particular salon I " refer to " , b) on a public Forum it would be unwise  for me to recommend  a place as I then put myself in the firing line if something goes wrong, which it could very well do with chemicals involved on the body and c) on a public Forum where there are those ill-disposed towards me and my views, I don't think it would be a good idea fom my or the salon's point of view. I hope you understand.      The salon in particular does not do body waxing anyway, but thank you for your interest. I have not found fault because they are Polish, just counter suggesting support home industry. I have many Polish friends, so there is nothing agin persons from that country as such.

Fair enough...

Diane Gill ● 6506d

Re  Fair enough...       xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx        thank you. Due to previous experiences on national Forums / Message Boards I know what can happen. There are organisations of shall we say "leftish " outlook, and whose members and supporters can be most vicious and violent. My computer was hacked into and specific info lifted, others of the same opinion as myself re mass immigration etc had death threats and some had their homes severely damaged, so one has to be careful. As I said in a previous post on another thread, such organisations / supporters make the B N P look like cuddly teddy bears at a vicar's tea-party.
