Cookery Club

I am trying to start a cookery club. The idea is that we get together at each others homes and cook our favourite recipes and have some good foodie chats. We might also organise some trips to restaurants as a way of getting to know each other first.  I have already posted a topic on the Chiswick W4 Forum titled "Cookery Club".  If you are interested, check out the posting and please email me direct and I'll put you on our list and let you know when the next meeting is happening. Whilst not exactly a cookery club at West Ealing Neighbours (www.westealingneighbours.org.uk) we have started up an Abundance Project now in its 2nd year.  This project is aimed at harvesting local fruit that would otherwise go to waste and doing something with it!  In this case making jams and chutneys that we very successfully sold at the Craft Fair in St James Church, West Ealing.We are now working on a blog and how to involve the community in learning to cook (bit of Jamie Oliver here) so if you are interested in this aspect of cooking then please let me knonw!

I couldn't get on to the sites properly yesterday - I could see how many people were visiting but the page wouldn't come up.  Seems OK today though.  I think your idea of a Cookery Club is great.

Just an update on what's happening.  I visited Roberta Sabbatini of the All in Italian Language/Cookery School yesterday to discuss the possibility of the Club having a Saturday morning cookery class at her Cookery/Language School (http://www.allinitalian.co.uk/).  She is kindly giving us a special costs only deal which will be about £15 - £20.  The normal price is £38 which is still very good value.  Leiths Cookery School charge £105 for the same thing!  Not only will we learn some new cooking skills but she will also teach some easily digested Italian language.  Check out this link to see her in action: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=E0UogFngMcYI emailed everyone on the Cookery Club mailing list and all 8 places went very quickly plus 2 people on a waiting list.  If anyone is interested, then Roberta has 4 places left on her next class, on 14th March. Normal price £38.  We are also intending to visit a local restaurant (Seasons in King Street W6 is my suggestion) in January and the first hosted event is at my home on the 31st Jan.  I would also like to organize a visit to Borough Market, maybe in February.  If you'd like to be added to the mailing list, please email me.
