Support Your Ward Forums
Ward Forums (WFs) are probably the only bit of participatory local democracy left in Ealing. They are attendedd by local Councillors and as public 'places of discussion' they are your opportunity to quiz your Councillors in public. Anyone can attend. The next one in West Ealing is the Northfields WF which will be held on Thursday 8th January in Mount Carmel School on Little Ealing Lane (2 minutes walk from The Plough pub) commencing at 7:30 pm. The Council's Cabinet lead on Regeneration will be in attendance - Councillor David Millican. It is he who has steered through the plans to cover almost 9 acres in central Ealing with 1,265 flats - rising to 26 storeys - and with 57 new shops. Councillor Taylor will also attend. He famously, but it would seem erroneously, stated that 4,000 local residents had voiced their support for the Arcadia 'Tupperware Tower' housing estate in the heart of W5. He gave his support to the development at the Planning Committee meeting. If you can't make this WF try and attend some others. In West Ealing alone this month we have Ealing Broadway WF on 15th, Elthorne WF on 19th, and Walpole WF on 22nd. The Cleveland WF is on 11th February.
