Now that a chunk of land where the new runway is planned to be built I wonder if anyone in Hillingdon council has the nous to reclassify it as commercial land and levy business rates on each plot?That could be a nice little earner.

Perhaps not but I`m glad our council has the nous to declare "HEATHROW EXPANSION CONDEMNED" on the front page of the Borough`s website with Leader of the Council Jason Stacey stating "this expansion will have a detrimental effect on all our lives".                          www.ealing.gov.ukfor further reading www.ealing.gov.uk/services/environment/pollution/noise_pollution/aircraftPS. Why Graham? Do you have any idea of what mixed mode means let alone building the equivalent of Gatwick outside Heathrow? Even if you are fortunate not to be directly affected by noise which is questionable bearing in mind a new flightpath heading over Southall and Greenford with three hundred and twenty airbuses on every fourth day to match easterlies, there will be further congestion on the roads and trains. Most are not saying don`t fly in moderation and there are now six runways servicing London.

A major advantage of additional flights at Heathrow will be more trolley dollies and ground stewardesses looking for local accommodation.And where better than Arcadia and Dickens Yard?Brand new, smart, a few minutes from Ealing Broadway station with a fast direct rail link to their place of work.Surely the presence of such females would improve the appearance of central Ealing and perhaps raise the standard of shops in the area which many moan about.No doubt Ealing would appeal to male staff too, but I can't comment as I'm not that way inclined.

While sympathising with those who will lose their houses. I favour the runway for increased business and employment. However if the Nutorys keep their word, it will not happen.

Unfortunately more low paid jobs will suck in more HMO`s and backgarden development. The much talked about Dickens & Arcadia developments` prices will be beyond most cabin staff who will live in their home towns, or well paid senior staff somewhere relatively idyllic far away even on the Continent, although I concede foreign longhaul crews will need hotels.
