... seems like Ealing will be a lovely place to live for the next ten years ... if you like cranes and diggers, and even bigger potholes.

And no space to breathe or anything interesting to do if the massive Dickens Yard and Arcadia constructions go ahead as planned.  If you're not happy about this, then e mail Boris Johnson IMMEDIATELY (today) and ask him to do for Ealing what he has done for Londoners over Heathrow.mayor@london.gov.uk And you can come to a public meeting in Ealing Town Hall on Tuesday 20th,7.30pm to discuss alternative ideas which are being given to the Council.

At the Acton Town Hall development meeting last week I asked a question about the sale of the Acton Old Fire Station property, which had until last year been used by Age Concern.  I always thought this was a good site for their activities in that it was next to all the main bus routes and also very visible so promoting the activites to both participants and volunteers. The reply I was sent follows.  Was anyone else aware of this deal and did it come up in the consultation processes?"The background to the sale relates to a deal with the London Diocesan Fund who had a restrictive covenant across the Dickens Yard site which they lifted in return forthe Council selling the Fire Station to them."

This just illustrates the power of private land owners. As the Council continues to sell off land to private companies, like St George and A2Dominion, we'll see more 'town planning' being carried out by private land owners.

If you care to take a glance at other threads - there is a very clear and strong message that Ealing Town Centre is a shadow of what it once was. Ok I am being very generous, people agree it is a dump, with the most atrocious shopping and parking, and with one or two minor exceptions it is a place to be avoided at all costs.  Planting six trees will not fix anything, it needs INVESTMENT, and regeneration... by simply protesting against large scale new developments you are simply hammering one of the final nails in Ealings coffin. Up to you really, I gave up on Ealing a couple of years ago - avoid it like the plague... Chiswick, South Ealing and Northfields are reaping the benefits. Cranes are very ugly, but not as ugly as empty boarded up shops dotted between Poundlands and Primarks... good luck with your strategy I hope it helps you save Ealing but I fear it won't.
