Christmas Lights in January

Is there a competition going on to find who can keep their xmas lights up the longest??? I have seen many houses still with their twinkling fairy lights in the windows and front gardens this week. Tonight I saw Yates Wine Bar in Mattock Lane festooned in blue and white lights (but maybe they keep them all year round??).The best is the Arcadia Centre in Ealing Broadway still with its Xmas trees around the building and the lights on the trees still flashing away. (At least the church next door has finally taken down its tree and lights).Any other contenders???

I must look and see if Alperton still has the Diwali lights.

I remember someone (Joanna Dabrowska?) saying that people in Poland keep their Christmas decorations up until a later date - some other special day.

I thought the superstition here was that if you missed taking them down on January 6th, the next propitious date was February 14th.But I have no idea where that came from.

Surely they are generally regarded as festival lights now  to reflect the mixed population?  They brighten up a pretty miserable time of year anyway.

The Alperton ones have proclaimed Hindu deities which I dislike almost as much as the false prophet who at least gets no lights.

There is a lone tree outside The Castelbar in West Ealing still with lights but it looks so pretty I think they should stay!
