Government plans for broadband
I'm staggered to read in the government's interim report for Britain's digital future that it is calling for everyone to have access to broadband with a speed of up to 2 megabits per second. This has to be far, far too slow for the country's future needs. My BT broadband is soon to be upgraded from 2Mbps to 8Mbps and that's no big deal. How on earth can the goverment opt for such a low speed when other countries are putting in up to 100Mbps? Creating universal broadband access is right but if the UK is to be a serious player in content creation for the digital age then we should surely at least have a respectable basic broadband speed much faster than 2Mbps? What do other people think?
