Recommendation needed for replacement windows and doors

Has anyone had thier windows and/or doors replaced recently and could recommend anyone? We had the big companies (Anglia, Everest etc)in several years ago and found thier sales tactics so traumatising it completely put us off! We have started looking again and had a couple of quotes but they are so wide ranging it's hard to know what is expensive and what is cheap and what is a a reasonable price for quality and competency. I have tried searching the home improvements section but couldn't find anything specifically to do with windows. Any suggestions??

Try Jubilee Windows in Ashford Middx. I have a friend who is a local landlord, and uses them for all the properties he upgrades....and he will not accept rip off's or inferior work.

Depends what you want - we had our sash windows (well they weren't any more, just horrid aluminium ones) replaced by Sash Window Wizard who were fab and did what they said they would to time and quote. Not cheap though...but so worth it for the restored look and feel of the house.

I can recommend Cut Price Windows in southall for quality of products and great pricing, but you do need to watch the contractors to make sure they install them  to your stadard.

I would not recommed Peerless, we have spent over a year trying to get minor issues resolved.  The pre-sales service was great, but the after service is shocking - fine as long as you don't want to make use of the 10 year guarantee.

We had some done by Everest recently with no hard-sell tactics at all. In fact, the salesman, Charles Eyre, was really nice, very posh, and insisted on overseeing every aspect of the fitting etc personally to make sure we were happy with every step.
