Thoughts on primary school expansion

I'm working on a piece on Ealing residents' views on primary school expansion plans in nine Ealing schools. We received a piece of paer through our letterbox yesterday about Fielding school expansion yesterday so it wouldn't have given us much time to do anything about it. Although it will cause further problems on the local roads etc, I wouldn't object becuase I don't really see what other alternatives the council has. It would take years to build somewhere new, even if there were than land to build on.

I over look the school, would rather have a school there than a ghastly estate full of chavs any day.I've heard there are residents on the school perimeter who complain about the noise of the children! for God's sake !!!Truely sad people.

Why can't they build a school instead of this silly new shopping centre and more housing.  Small is beautiful as far as schools are concerned, particularly primary.

Sorry too late for your article and the consultation which I was unaware of. Did anyone respond to the Council? I would not have been sure what to say - it seems obvious that a primary school place problem is looming but new schools are expensive and undersubscribed schools don't tend to be good ones.

Yes, I forgot to confirm this. The only communique we received was from our local residents' association and this was a few days before the consultation closed.

There were apparently more baptisms of infants at the Polish Church in Ealing than there are places in Catholic primary schools in the borough. As someone who came to this country from an immigrant family attending a school which was sympathetic to our faith and traditions was a significant help in integrating. Consideration should be given to meeting these needs.

Building a new school is the obvious thing to do isn't it?Fielding has around 750 pupils already! This is big for a comprehensive school, but for a primary it is insane. And then this Counil make it bigger!!!??
