On immigration I doubt the phenomena as we know it, existed then or that there would have been no comparison in circumstances. On the second point, something which I think warrants great investigation. The tenets of Islam are the same as those of Judaism and Islam lays claim to Abraham, Moses and all other prophets etc etc, so theoretically Jesus was an Islamist. The question arises how did 2 religions come from the same base, with the same beliefs and behaviours. ( the fact Judaism has ditched some of them is immaterial to the point )and where and why did they part. Up to the advent of Mohammed, the only difference as I understand was Islamists' acceptance of Jesus as God sent, but not being The Messiah. And another shattering comment was made in a recent TV programme, which seems to have been conveniently let slip away, that Jesus could not have been of Immaculate Conception. As was pointed out in that program, the sentence in Israel and Judaism at that time for any woman pregnant but not married, (the situation Mary was in) , was to be stoned to death, as per God's instructions. So it is unimaginable that if she said to the Authorities GOD / Yahweh had made her pregnant, that the Authorities would have believed her. More than likely would have added blasphemy as a indictment, so that Joseph agreed to stand by her, marry her and say he was the father to ward off the death penalty means in effect he is the one who should be the most revered out of all three involved. In fact, the real father was known at the time, a Roman soldier whose name was known and in records up to 200 years after.
