Car Boot Sales

Hello again,I was wondering where the best car boot sales are in Ealing. We used to go to the monthly one in Chiswick, which was great! Are there any of a similar scale in Ealing? Thank you.

I go to one in Denham which is good. (It's out along the A40 where the M40 starts) M

The Denham car boot is huge and very busy BUT the toilets are disgusting!

What makes a "good" car boot sale? I have never been to one and can't see the attraction. Is it the hope of a bargain... or the joy of offloading? And does anyone make any money and if so, how?

A little of all that!  I off loaded loads of stuff and made around 400 quid. But at other times I've been after vintage clothing, plants for the garden, knick knacks etc

I've never been very lucky selling stuff and only ever made about £80. I've bought loads of bits though..ornaments, clothes, plants, books etc. There's a good one in South Ruislip, alternates between Field End Road field and the local school,Queensmead. On a  Sunday morning. We used to live there and it was a great source of stuff

I completely agree with Viv. The reason I love car boot sales is a mix of all those. When I've been a seller, I've managed to make a good profit selling things that I would otherwise have have thrown out. As the saying goes "one man's junk is another man's treasure" and I really believe this with boot sales.As a buyer, I love vintage clothes and furniture and I've found some real treasures at boot sales, which if I'd bought in some upmarket shop in Islington or some antique stall in Portobello market,  I would have paid a lot more!. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I think they're great and in this economic climate, they're a great way of finding some really nice things at bargain prices.

Just to let you know there will be a Car Boot Sale at Fielding School in Wyndham Rd, Northfields on 28th March from 9am - 1 pm.Previews 9-9.30 cost £3, Entrance after 9.30 costs £1 (children under 12 free)There will be cooked breakfasts for sale alongside the sellers, as well as a face painting stall for children.It could be the perfect opportunity to find out why car boot sales are so popular, it's local and it won't cost you a fortune!
