Abusive Insults and abusive comments reprimand

I have just received an email from the moderators, asking me not to get involved in abusive posts with other users, which I would imagine has been instigated by those who are amongst us, and whose avowed intention is to suppress any discussions on race, immigration, asylum, priority housing for asylum seekers etc,and yes I hold up my hands I have spouted venom, but only in response to  that which was directed at me in the first instance. Many I am sure will be more than pleased, ecstatic even, that I will refrain from posting on here,and only one point of view is permissible now, but I would remind them that this is how the gestapo used to operate in the 30's and 40's....meanwhile, I hope you Tony and Jean, keep on posting your views. Freedom to abuse and insult me seems to be the order of the day, but when I respond in a like manner..... Remember "Big Brother Is Watching You"? So have a nice discussion on "my cat is stuck up a tree"!!!!!!!! Bye for now, and for the complainant, you managed to stop me from posting, sleep well

Well surprise surprise, so there is no such thing as free speech anymore?Maybe some don't wish to know the truth and honest opinions must be supressed.By the time the public realise what is happing to this once great country it will by then be far too late. Ifty is not personally insulting. AMJA would not listen to anyone else's opinion, even if they were minded to agree with him. I didn't agree with him but he was equally insulting to those who were certainly not 'liberal' in their views. He was too busy shouting.And no, it wasn't me who complained but I am relived that the Forum can go bac to days of polite debate and disagreement.

just to throw another opinion into the ring, I don't know whether I agreed with AMJA or not, as soon as I spotted the word "luvvie" I lost the will to live and moved on from his postings.  I suspect I may actually have agreed with much of what he posted about but I definitely disliked the tenor of his postings.  Therefore I think he did himself a disservice and lost the argument before he had begun.  When he calms down and develops a more varied vocabulary people may actually be more prepared to agree with him.

Indeed that is true, which is why AMJA's reference to the Gestapo is so ludicrous.  There is nothing wrong with discussions, preferably with an Ealing slant, about the subjects he mentions, provided they are conducted with mutual respect and without personal abuse.I note that he wasn't actually suspended, merely warned to refrain from abuse, and evidently he is not prepared to do that.  That says it all really.

PennyIfty may not these days use personal insults, but that is not to say that he does not come up with some extremely offensive statements which should be combated with vigour. In his case, and that is far worse,I think his comments incite hatred. It may be sadly, better to see him perform in public, because that will focus some peoples' minds which otherwise might not happen. Also the authorities can keep an eye on him, which they may well do anyway.The moderator could ban him as well, but unless all the moderators ban him (he posts on many sites) the best thing for him is a prosecution by way of making him an example.I suspect the law is woolly on this point, and so he slips through a loophole.Anyway welcome to a politer environment of freedom of speech.

I agree, Ifty talks a load of rubbish and I don't condone it and there are grounds for banning him because he posts on all sites etc etc. However, yes, he is maybe best just allowed to spout his propaganda in full view of us all. I still think he's best ignored because you never get an answer from him so it's a waste of effort.

Call me picky but the most offensive thing I've heard in years has been spouted by that Iffy character.He said words to the effect that Brits were not even good enough to be buried next to.This despite us offering him a good life style,state benefits no doubt,free housing I will wager and more freedom for him and his vile brood than would be offered in his own country of origin.Well,he may not want to be buried near me but I don't want to live any where near him.About time him and others with his views were deported so they can be amongst their own.BTW Anderw, Good luck and don't let them grind you down.They're all chatterring to each other over their little dinner parties behind their chintzy curtains whilst outside Rome burns.

Keith, don't start. Or rather stop NOW.You are taking a stand which most posters would consider offensive, that is directly targeting an individual rather than the comment made. Can anyone actually tell me what the purpose is of Ealing Today as a Forum? When I initially came across the Forum a few months ago I thought the main objective was for individuals to post views on matters relevant to Ealing such as regeneration, the council, requirements for local services etc.  I merrily contributed to some of the postings but soon realised that the tone and manner of many of the posts were objectionable, centred on personal insults and did not appear to have much to do with Ealing as it is now (and for the future) with a large degree of focus on what Ealing may or may not have been like many years ago (I have lived in the area for 4 years now so know little of 'gentle' Ealing as was) I am happy that the moderator has FINALLY intervened in the case of AMJA but there are other people on this site that also require some form of moderation too surely? I do believe in free speech but there should be a code of conduct that individuals can be reminded of should the posts become offensive in order for the individual to consider their responses going forward if they wish to do so!

Keith,When I post, on any forum, I think of the old BBC creed - inform, educate, entertain - sometimes singly and sometimes in combination.The forum would be a very dull place if only facts were presented, one might as well study "Around Ealing" or share prices.What makes a forum "buzz" is the light touch applied by its posters which makes it enjoyable to read. Certainly many matters are serious or plain factual but many are somewhat nebulous.I do not consider myself a spokesman for anyone other than myself other than where common decency may be compromised."They're all chattering to each other over their little dinner parties behind their chintzy curtains whilst outside Rome burns."The correlation between that statement and the film clip strikes me as rather strong. It might well be facetious but it would reinforce the lesson.Perhaps other posters would kindly confirm or disagree.If one is not sure of the relevance of a particular item one only has to ask the originator for an explanation -it is not a demonstration of ignorance, only reasoned thought.Not so much the wording of your post but the tenor was not nice. As I said it is one thing to disagree with someone's view but to directly attack them is unacceptable. It quickly degenerates into name-calling. For the sake of all the moderators/posters I don't intend to develop this sub-post further.What I'm saying, myself included, is "Don't get up-close personal."

There is a code of conduct but how this person got away with posting the way he did for so long suggests it isn't enforced as rigidly as it should be. I know several people who have been discouraged from posting here.The forum should be about Ealing with the occasional post about broader matters but it became a place where misfits came to have a rant and an embarrassment to the area. Hopefully it will now become a useful social utility like the other message boards for different parts of London.

The irony of this thread is that AMJA has made it clear that he is not prepared to clean up his act. The points he has made in the past, offensive as they often appeared to some of us, could still be made by him if he was prepared to remove the personal attacks directed at everyone he perceived as disagreeing with him.That says more about him than anything else.My understanding of this forum is that any topic is regarded as reasonable, subject of course to the laws of the land.

I do feel a little sorry for AMJA who does have a point of view that some people believe is reality but not what I believe. This country has to look forward to the future with optimism and not constantly try to harp back to the past with rose tinted glasses, cynicism and negativity.

May I suggest you continue with the good work and not let those who set out to rile you get their way.

And I feel persons like him are essential in this day and age, especially in our " neck of the woods ". The fact remains the threads which were regarded as the more controversial were the most successful. I have received  very abusive posts from persons and on on occasion saw fit to report a post to the Forum organisers, a post which on other boards would have resulted in dismissal of the person and probably a prosecution, but no action at all was made, so there is " irregularity" afoot. So to Michael, I say continue to post in a more " refrained " manner. You have facts and figures at your command which are not only very pertinent but essential to the overall scheme of things.

Then there may well a great wailing weeping and gnashing of teeth. The lefties and PC merchants may well enact a Custer's Last Stand in due time but to no avail. I read this last evening in an American publication  which situation portrayed is relevant to Ealing, London in general and many other parts of the country  :-      " "Like it or not, Europe is finished. So, to sum up: AMJA was told that he could continue to post if he would only be civil, but refused to accept that very reasonable provision.So he has only himself to blame for his suspension. He is not 'being silenced', merely being asked not to abuse other forum users.

" sadly Keith , he was ground down , in good old nazi style."I find that comment quite offensive.  AMJA made it clear that he had decided not to post here because he was not prepared to abide by the moderators' requirements, which themselves were in line with the published code of conduct.  Several of us on this thread have made it clear that, while we support the moderators' decision, we are not trying to censor or avoid civilised debate on any issues.There is nothing remotely "nazi style" about this.

I actually stopped posting and commenting on the Forums for a while because of AMJA. He does have good points but he really is quite vicious in his responses and lack trying to understand someone else point of view. I did complain against him and his attitude, and if AMJA is on form I am sure I will have cause again after this post. I do wonder how many people he has driven away from this site because of his inflammatory approach?

I have no idea how many he drove away but I too complained about his incivility. I agreed with 95% of his views but found his way of expressing them distasteful. Disagree with him on one thing and you were a luvvie or worse.

I only posted a few times but it became very clear that only one opinion is tolerated on this forum and it certainly isn't mine, or Mr Atkinson's, however carefully the opinion is worded.  I haven't bothered to join in for the last few months and I certainly won't bother again.

Some, particularly of the left and the mis-named PC frame of mind are among the worst personal abusers. If the Ealing W5 was a radio station then I would introduce myself by saying "Hello, my name is Tony and I am a first time caller".Although I am not a contributor I felt that I must speak up for AMJA who speaks his mind and I am sure that many agree with his sentiments.I have been in this country now for over 50 years, and I have witnessed the decline of the British culture and values.He may be a bit OTT at times, but it seems to me that it was usually in response from the left wing liberals or "Luvvies" as AMJA called them, who seemed quite content to see the local population put to the bottom of the pile in everything.Perhaps one of them can give an opinion or the most recent PC nonsense where Gypsies and travellers must not only have priority medical care, but consultations will be 20 minutes while others are having the average 5-10 minutes!!!  Come back Michael please.

And in addition to some other large towns and cities in the UK, London is very badly affected, so much so most of my ethnic friends are moving out. My Ukranian is moving to Scotland, two of his married Ukranian friends have today said they will visit him and if they like it, move out of London themselves. Close Indians have moved already and the Kosovar friends want to shift either to Basingstoke or all the way back to Kosovo. The Chinese are short term anyway. Poles hanging on as welfare benefits better than back home. Brazilians either already gone or getting Portuguese nationality. Iraqis staying, cos of benefits. West Ealing is awash with Somalis, mainly women, with kids, so that augurs well for the future as far Christians are concerned. There are already 3 mosques I think in Ealing proper?. Just look these days in the Ealing and Acton Gazette, not much about indigenous folk but I notice in the latest issue of Around Ealing, most persons portrayed therein are white, so presumably Ealing Council are trying to hide the facts of the way the Borough has gone, bearing in mind such are much the minority now. But I also notice, the Council have done nothing re the Afghan woman and kids to whom taxpayers' are paying the equivalent of £300.000 per year. Not bad for doing nothing, pity we can't all get it.

One would have hoped persons could have seen beyond the style and  concentrated on the content, which obviously  " upset " some, the truth very often is unpalatable and if there is no viable reply, the obvious way for some is to silence the opposition. Probably makes them feel good PC individuals, puffing their chests out with pride as the build their own funeral pyres. In silencing persons such as AMJA, those persons and moderator have done the Forum and themselves no favours. One must ask who in history, and contemporary times, have felt the need to silence their opposition.

Tony, your friends can do what they like, but the harsh brutal reality is that some of them may be in for an extremely rude awakening.  You are probably aware of the East Europeans who have been forced out of Belfast due to racist attacks; who's to say the same thing won't happen in Scotland?  As for Basingstoke, I have never been there but know it's a hotbed of anti-social behaviour, particularly at weekends, and much of it is alcohol-fuelled.  I recall a few years ago reading of an elderly lady who moved to Bsingstoke from London (don't know what part) over fears of crime - and promptly got burgled within a week of arriving - something that had never happened to her in London despite her fears!  Remember, I am white British and  started off outside London myself, and although you may think this whole post is a spoof, it's quite genuine - whenever I go back and visit my mother in Chorleywood (about once a fortnight) - I come away thinking "thank God I moved into filthy, crime-ridden, multi-ethnic London".  Actually, Kenton, where I live, is in reality hardly filthy or crime-ridden, although it is certanily multi-ethnic (two synagogues and a Hindu temple within five minutes' walk of my home).  At least there is decent street lighting here  ; on my mother's estate the NIMBYs won't allow it, because it's too modern, too urban, and a magnet for anti-social youths at night.  I never saw such youths there in 20 years, but I used to get Seasonal Affective Disorder there in winter - not any more in well-lit Kenton.  And you get buses that run on Sundays.  And as a pensioner you get very generously subsidised travel on public transport.  These things matter ; you don't know how important they are until you find yourself without them.  So your friends need to do their homework and consider vey carefully what they need, as well as what they would like.

I would suggest that some people won't be happy until this forum's posts have to go through Google's translator to make them readable.It's already happening in the NHS where there is often a question on appointment confirmation forms asking whether one needs a translator present.Why is this, doesn't the health professional speak English?

Alan I am a regular traveller on the bus to and from the tube 4 days a week.  I can confirm that I do notice who gets on and off the 207 bus in particular if I am travelling on it and if they pay or not. Surprisingly quite a few do (I would say when I travel on the bus it is probably 90% on my patch of the route)In addition during rush hour there are frequent inspections to check you have paid your bus fare.

And as to the inspections, are they carried out by groups. When I spoke to a empathatic driver on the Wembley run, he said no inspections because of assaults and any have to be  by six persons in a group.
