bathroom waste pipes

HelloI am planning some work on my house which involves the creation of a new bathroom. The easiest pipe run for the bathroom waste pipes (bath and sink, not toilet which is situated elsewhere) is straight out the front wall into the surface water drain pipe but I'm not sure that this would comply with building regulations, even though I've noticed several other properties with this arrangement (the complexity of some exterior plumbing astounds me!) The alternative would be to run the pipes all the way to the existing waste water pipe, which is some distance, so I'd rather avoid this if possible.Can anyone shed any light on this, potential pitfalls, etc? The plumbers I've spoken to have given conflicting views and Thames Water were of little help.Thanks

Mark, have you tried asking the Ealing planning dept.Environmentally speaking it is a no-no. Only slightly  related, on the canals, environmentalists would like to see even narrow boats being prevented from discharging grey water into the canal.
