Catalan vs Matalan

Was anyone else secretly pleased that last night exposed how desperately over hyped the Premier League is and that by far the best team in Europe won? The papers are already claiming that United would have won if a journeyman Scot had been available to close down Xavi and Iniesta in midfield but wouldn't it have been better if they had players that were as skilful as them?

As a ManU fan actually born in Manchester, I was naturally disappointed about last night. Man U appeared listless and yes Barca did play well. I don't think Fletcher's inclusion would have made much difference - the inclusion of Nobby Stiles at his best might have. To suggest that ManU doesn't have skilful players is laughable.One team does not make a national premier league. I don't like the way that Murdoch manipulates the UK Premier League but I'm hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't think it's the best national football league in Europe.  After all 3 of the 4 semi-finalists in the European Cup (that was) were English Premiership teams.

I never object to the Red lot losing but I do object to a team winning who only got there via a blind referee.No I am not a Blues fan.

Was there a football match on ?All I know is that I saw England beat New Zealand at the 7s on the weekend. That's what you call real gentlemanly sport !

Have to admit I was disappointed ManU weren't able to maintain their opening play, as Barca scoring with their first shot on goal was hard to swallow.  Agree with previous poster, though: Barca shouldn't even have been in the final! (Arsenal fan).

Boom boom tish.....very good thread title! Yeah Utd were well, well below par and beaten by a seriously good team, yes probably the best team in Europe. However, not sure why you're flaming this forum. The fact that Barca can put 6 past their closest title rivals, away from home, whilst maintaining an average of almost 3 goals scored per league game (104 goals in 37 games) exposes how desperately overhyped the Primera Liga is. As a PP pointed out, over the last 3 seasons EPL teams have occupied 3 of the 4 semi final berths...case closed

And Barcelona are so good that they managed to score one goal in over 3 hours of football against Chelsea and were only in the final due to a Norwegian that should have gone to Spec-savers.United were very poor last night but they are not the only ones that are over-hyped.
