Ealing Council win - The MJ Best Achieving Council of the Year"

The Municipal Journal for local authority business(MJ) said the council had "Displayed consistent and real improvement coupled with a constant ear to its public's concerns".What about the 'deaf ear' turned to the thousands of concerned members of the public who are strongly objecting to the Dicken's Yard and Arcadia Sites, two of the most horrendous developments ever to be proposed anywhere in London, and whose views are being ignored.

Breathtaking. How could I have got it so wrong? Maybe because I live in Ealing.I'd surely not like to live in the 'Worst Achieving Council in the Country'. I guess I'll now have to stop buying copies of 'Municipal Journal'.It must have been a heck of a good team who worked on the Ealing's entry for this award. I wonder what the judging criteria were and what the performance metrics were? Maybe it's all about improvements from a very low base of performance.If there's anyone out there who knows this, can they please let us all know.

It would be interesting to know the criteria used. Ealing is very badly run but even comparing services against neighbouring boroughs would not make it clearly superior. The current administration deserve credit for turning around the disasterous performance of their predecessors but it would be a miracle if they genuinely had made it the best Council in the country.

So so sorry. I have just lost at least 150 words will have another  go. But it was to do with "out of time" FoI request and no Road safety officer like most other boroughs and very poor quality consultation and communications. Nevertheless a great place to live look at those lovely trees and remember the fight we had to  save the lime trees..are some of those officers still with us?
