New GATSO cameras

Just picked this up on a Dorset forum, perhaps coming to a crossroads near you???------------------------------------------------------------------The correct infomation is this. direct from Siemens traffic department. With regard to the traffic lights on the Holes Bay road near Asda: They will flash if you go through a red as is normal, but they are the first in the country to use the GATSO system whereby through sensors in the road they will detect that if you are going through the lights on green but are over 30 mph they will automatically flash you and you will be caught speeding. Re  going through the lights on green but are over 30 mph they will automatically flash you and you will be caught speeding.               xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx        this is frightening, as everyone, in normal circs goes through t/lights at more than 30 mph. The effect on traffic flow will be drastic and there will be thousands of " exceeding the speed limit " prosecutions, assuming of course the Police do actually go ahead with prosecuting. I would hope they do so only for extreme speedsters. If traffic overall is kept down to 30, it will be a nightmare in practice.

It sounds like good news but why spend money on a relatively safe road when people are dieing, being maimed and injured on more dangerous roads in Dorset, such as the unforgiving A35 between Poole and Dorchester and the powers that be, do nothing.
